I don't know how the Tuna supposedly cost us Brady, but he did cost us Belichick. The two weren't close as many assumed. The fact that Tuna was still going to be around the Jets as GM made Belichick decide not to stay with the Jets (or at least that's what I've read).
Tuna definitely cost us Manning and was instrumental in costing us Belli (but I think there was more going on behind the scenes with Kraft) but there is no way he cost us Brady. It's silly to think Belli's master plan was to pluck a top 10 all time QB with his third pick in the sixth round of his first draft. If that was his master plan he could have taken him with the Jets or he would have taken him in the first round of that draft. Or 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th or one of his earlier 6ths. Brady was dumb luck for Belli and the Pats. _
I could never find it now but remember reading Belicheck liked Brady and drafted him and moved him to #2 before Bledsow got whacked. So I guess the thinking is if Belicheck stayed here, we might have drafted Brady.
Very possible. Highly speculative. If he liked him THAT much, he doesn't wait to use his third 6th round pick on him. _
No, that's not it as far I know. Unless you could produce it, I might be wrong. I was asking the in house expert what his explanation was.
Curtis Conway, that one year. I think that was also the year we got McCarines, both were complete garbage from what i can remember. That game against the Ravens that we almost came back in, two open passes to Justin. Garbage. A RB Blaylock didnt workout. I think it was 2005.
Manning would have been a cunt here. One, he sucked outside in the cold, and two...we didn't have an organization that would build around him. Remember, Polian built the Jills around Kelly..and carried that formula to Indy.
we know he cost us BB and BB would have had the same staff in place here that he had in NE and wouldn't have had the extra 1st rd pick which was why we took Chad in rd 1. I am assuming we don't take Chad and would have taken Brady later in the draft like NE did since we would have had the same staff in place he had in NE.
for all my criticism of Peyton the man wins in the reg season and gives a team a chance to get deep into postseason. had we drafted him we would have won a lot more, any GM is going to build around a great player like that.
Colts would've won more if they drafted better on the other side of the ball. Polian wasn't a good drafter by any means. If Peyton were on the Jets, he prob doesn't become the statistical God he is now.
he's a stat sheet filler, he does that wherever he goes. remember we had some really good skill guys when Peyton would have been young w/ Key, Chrebet, Curtis. Key was a top guy and I am sure we would have drafted differently and brought in more O guys. Indy had more than enough on D.
