we have a lot of folks who were around for that team, I am sure they have some great questions. I will send some as well. Thanks Neid
My 1st question would be despite being 18 point underdogs how confident were the Jets they could win SB III?
Send all of your questions to my inbox, and I will send them to my dad so he can respond. Once he responds back, we can create a thread.
What years did he play for the Jets? Sorry, I don't remember him. It looks like he was on the SB winning team, however.
My older brother loved the U bar and put one in his helmet in HS. I loved the Namath SB facemask--we weren't allowed to wear full cages back in HS, so I got the t-bar that Riggins wore and hack-sawed out the upper bar to make it look like Namath's-it had exposed metal and nobody said anything about it for my last 2 years. I still have my HS helemt. _
Vlad Ducasse- famous during the Hard Knocks show for coming in second AND third in the Jets King Ugly yearly contest. His greatest accomplishment as a Jet. _
The kitty was for $1000. First place got $0 because he was too ugly to win anything (some loudmouth rookie who never made the squad). 2nd place got 25% and 3rd place got 75% so Vlad took home a cool $1000. _
Yes Wendall Hayes, at 6'1" 220lbs, Wendall was a huge back in those days, love the old dust bowl Shea pictures
This is interesting. You father is wearing discs on the heals of his cleats. Before turf there were discs you could screw on to the bottom in place of the two spikes at the heel. This in theory prevented injuries by preventing the heel spikes getting caught in the ground, and allowing some motion, during contact and hits
