The other three guys were pretty good (not great) for us but Atwater stunk horribly.

It was so disappointing because he had an excellent career in Denver before coming here.

after a great FA in 1998 Parcells had an awful one in 1999 w/ Atwater, Eric Green and others. though I think he signed Roman Phifer who was good but gone very quickly.

Eric Green is the name that I couldn't remember.

I don't think he cracks the top five worst free agents but certainly deserves dishonorable mention.

I hated the way they gave him O'Brien's # before O'Brien was released. Boomer was great that first month in '93, after that it was a struggle.

Me too but Boomer was a much better QB than O'Donnel, Brister, Reich, Gerrard, Vick, etc.

Hey now, Eric Green gave us every bit of 37 yards while he was here!

If teams are going to bring in a Tebow they need to give him a chance or not waste their time. You either go all in with the guy as your starter in an offense catered to his bullshit or don't do it at all.

we traded Rob Moore and Hasty was so sick of losing we had no shot to bring him back. I remember reading Hasty being so pissed when we went to KC in 1998 and beat them.

Hasty is a very underrated guy in Jets history b/c he was on so many bad teams. Best Jets corner I have seen in my lifetime outside of #24. Miles ahead of Aaron Glenn.

they gave him a chance, he didn't perform in practice and was resistant to playing anywhere but QB.

Based on what? What are your sources he was resistant? Even if he was, wouldn't you be after you just won a playoff game?

There's only one offense he can be remotely effective in. If the Jets didn't want to run thththat offense then it's a round peg in a square hole.

that run in 2011 was nothing more than a fluke, most games they would barely score, the D would hold the opponents down and they'd make a play late. there's a reason they were looking to replace him even before the Manning move. If you remember, our QB at the time had much more playoff success than just 1 home playoff win(where Tim did play really well).

The Jets wanted him in a Brad Smith type role, Tim knew that coming here.

I look at Atwater and Green as kind of a wash. Parcells tried compliment the roster and help them get over the hump after '98.

The moment Vinny went down that season it was basically over.
I've always lamented not having Glenn Foley around. They definitely would've made the Playoffs that year at least.
Parcells was not prepared for what happened to Vinny.

Vinny going down is up there in my Jets disappointments.

the Jets finished a game out of the playoffs w/o Vinny around for s single win. the problem is BP wasted a month plus w/ Mirer.

Obviously he didn't consider Ray as a viable back up early on. If he had we would've made it with Ray. Instead Ray was his last resort.

He gambled that Vinny wasn't gonna get hurt
