No I am not, I judge him based on the standards of HIS era. It is completely unfair to judge a player of that era based on today's standards- I don't ever do that. for example, it was told to the board earlier in the thread that ALL QBs had horrible TD to INT ratios. I showed the HOFers from that era, only one had a negative TD to INT ratio and it was -47 not even close to even.
he simply doesn't junk! fuckin A. not unless teams want 15 yard penalties anyway. and most teams don't
You know what? I give up. You'd rather be an ass than get along with others. You are delusional. I was right in my initial assessment of you. You're one of the least knowledgeable posters I've ever seen on a football site. You have these unshakeable opinions and positions and think you are so smart, when you're ignorant and don't know jack shit imo. You're blind to how biased you are, and can't even step back and objectively look at yourself. I feel sorry for you. Back on permanent ignore you go.
teams do get 15 yd penalties. it is beyond asinine to think Brady isn't tough, to think any QBs of this ear are not tough. b/c they ask for a flag? it's so silly.
they don't even have to ask for a flag. QBs in the NFL get hit a hell of a lot less than even 10 years ago because if you breathe closely to them its a flag. Just in general -they are hit less because teams don't want penalties. Crazy thought i know. Yes, most QBs today aren't nearly as tough as previous era QBs and Brady is the biggest bitch of all today's QBs (cutlers kind of a bitch too)
do you realize how much bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic players are today? do you have any clue how tough you have to be to play in this league? even punters and kickers are tough now.
If you are going to have a hypothetical discussion comparing players today from yesteryear, you have to assume that the physicalities are the the same, constant, in order to make the comparison fair. You can't compare a lineman from the 1960s who weighed 245 pounds and didn't have the modern training techniques and nutrition to a lineman today who weighs 330 and can run like the wind--it's silly. You have to adjust for eras. Dick Butkus might get swallowed up today and Chad Cascaden might have been the greatest LB ever to play if you magically transported him back to 1965. But what you CAN compare is the style of play and what was legal back then and what is illegal today. QBs back then were routinely treated like rag-dolls. And it was legal. QBs today are treated like prima donnas and you are not allow to touch them. Players may be bigger and stronger but relative to the eras in which they played--QBs were MUCH tougher back in the day. _
No but he was Rookie of the Year and an All Star as a rookie (and his third year, fourth year and fifth year). _
.. ...................... "You don't say!" Yes there's the whiny side of Brady: ON THE OTHER HAND, the sommabitch got up at '3' :
You still don't get it. He didn't embarrass the team although he may have embarrassed himself. He never attacked the team either, he just calls a spade a spade. You have plenty of criticisms of what the team does, almost every fan of the Jets has criticisms - that does not mean Namath is attacking the team. Truth is the ultimate defense. If you insist on using terms like bashing and attacking use examples to show what you're talking about. nyjunc doesn't get to censor anyone when it comes to the NY Jets - especially Joe Namath.
Can you just admit that never having seen him play a single game, you don't know shit about Namath and leave it at that?
if you don't think the highest profile player in team history being drunk and hitting on sideline reporter in front of a Nat'l TV audience didn't embarrass the franchise I don't know what to tell you. he's right in some of his criticism of the team, I'm just giving reasons for younger folks to not appreciate him as much. who is trying to censor anyone? why would I admit to something that isn't true?(other than not seeing him play live- I have seen a few games on tape)
I personally don't give a shit how many ints. Namath threw. He's my all-time favorite football player and the reason I love the NY Jets. Name one player who had more of an impact on the NY Jets or the league as a whole for that matter.
if he's your favorite you shouldn't care. I don't know of any player that has had a greater impact on the history of pro football.
People are responsible for themselves. What you want is a share and share alike society with lack of personal responsibility. I expect you are a big proponent of "participation awards" for every kid on every team. In Namath's sideline antics, it is he and he alone responsible. Seeing a couple of games on tape is watching in a vacuum. If you weren't watching two or three or more games a week when you saw those old tapes what you're looking at is so far out of perspective it is virtually meaningless. You've been told this many times already but you're too thick or too stubborn to realize it.
what does him embarrassing the franchise have to do w/ participation awards? it is not him and him alone, he represents the Jets and on that night that we celebrated the 40th anniversary team(if I recall correctly) he was chosen to represent all former players in his remarks on Nat'l TV. he embarrassed himself and the franchise. again, is Babe Ruth a great player? did you see him play? I'm sure I don't know anywhere near as much as I would had I watched him but I have seen, heard, read enough to have an informed opinion and my opinion is UNBIASERD unlike you guys who loved the man. you guys cannot separate your fandom from reality, I can.
Junc....lol...what does this even mean? Ok...let's just forget you only saw a few games on tape. You didn't live it or feel the fear he put into his opponents. Stats? Is that where your argument comes from? He was hated by opposing lineman his first few years. He got the shit kicked out of him The shit...kicked out of him. To compare the toughness of a Brady to Namath is embarrasing. Brady...and give him credit...has mastered the duck before getting hit. I dare ANYONE to show me 5 REAL HITS Brady has taken over the past 5 years. If Brady sustained 20% of the hits Namath did, he would never be allowed to go back on the field in this day and age of contracts and doctors on the sidelines. Brady has mental toughness to play the game the way he does....don't embarrass yourself and compare the eras they played in and say Brady was tough like Namath. Namath was hit hard more in one game then Brady was in any season. And for the record...watching your couple of tapes....how the f can you even rebut that. Stop..please. You are talking about grownup stuff again. Foolish. That argument is just so juncish.
