Yeah, Alex had a good game against the Saints. I am not a fan of Alex Smith at all, I still think he choked that game away against the Giants. Would be pretty interesting to see Eli in a Jets uni - could happen next season; no extension talks.
I will be shocked if he leaves the Giants, if he does we'd be a perfect fit as he doesn't want to leave the area but I'd be shocked if they don't hammer out some sort of extension(assuming he doesn't have a career altering injury this season).
Joe Namath if he played today and had today's medical technology for knee operations would be the best QB in the NFL by quite a large margin. He would destroy opposing defenses with the rules today.
Debatable IMO - you still have Aaron Rodgers, who I believe would be a great QB in ANY era. Namath would definitely be in the top 3 of QBs in this era.
+1000. Especially if he played on the cushy and forgiving fast tracks of today? Hell, Warner played 1/2 his games as a Ram and Cardinal in climate controlled perfect conditions on super fast tracks. _

I agree with you although his career numbers aren't that good because of his health and the era in which he played. Putting up 4000+ yards passing was insanely good in 1967. In the 6 seasons following, there were only three times that a qb finished with more than 3000 yards passing. It took 12 seasons, a rule change, and two extra games a season for another qb to finish a season with 4000+ yards. I think he belongs in the HOF because of SB III though.
The way I see it and thought is was no matter the era. To win a SB it a team effort. IMO a few good seasons shouldn't put you in the HOF. That all he had in his career.
He was the best QB of his era and arguably the most important player in NFL history. And one of the most famous. It is the Hall of FAME after all. Clearly you never saw him play.
Well there's the NFL merger thing. Superbowl III wasn't just another superbowl win. It permanently changed the face of the game for the better. If you said the same thing about someone like Phil Simms, I'd agree with you completely.
So you can give your honest opinions but when Namath does it he is bashing the Jets? [all they have seen is Joe get drunk on the sideline and embarrass the franchise and constantly bash the team(whether it was deserved or undeserved) so I can understand a younger fan being frustrated w/ him]. I met the guy a couple of times and never found him to be anything but totally down to earth - he's not going to make believe the baby is not ugly when it could stop a bus. In addition to his own contributions, there is no bigger Jets fan than Joe Namath. If he's been drunk on the sidelines he has embarrassed himself, not the team just as when you're a jackass here you embarrass yourself, not a past employer.
I have no problem with Joe or anybody speaking bad about the Jets. Because let's face it the Jets has sucked in whole as a franchise.
he couldn't w/stand playing in an era w/ slower, smaller players but he'd be healthy in today's era w/ much larger, better athletes hitting him? this is the way it goes on here. I've met Joe too, always been a great guy. I am just saying younger fans only know the drunk guy embarrassing the team and attacking the team. I am not Joe, I am not the highest profile person in the history of the franchise, he's allowed to give his honest opinions but his will come w/ some backlash in the public eye.
Maynard was pretty fast, and faster than he looked. That is why he constantly got behind fast corners.
