At first I didn't want to beleive this. But as I read further into it, it became pretty clear that he is just a dirty old pervert who couldn't keep it in his pants, and knowing he did all this, he felt compelled to lecture everyone on how to live morally. Kinda sad.
That made me think of meme I saw the other day, it had George Jefferson and it said "used the word honkey 22 times in ONE season and still on the air" but showed a picture of the General Lee and the Duke Boys and said "never said a word" and canceled. They're both entertainment and honestly I loved both shows especially the Jeffersons but one can't be acceptable and the other not. Quit with the double standard bullshit and just move on but if one show should ever be questioned for being racist it certainly isn't the Dukes.
What a lot of people are overlooking is the time period this took place in. Back in the day, Quaaludes aka: Ludes were used as an aphrodisiac. Mostly by men on women. The woman didn't have to be forced because when a woman knowingly took ludes, it was known and accepted that sex was on the menu. Ludes were used mostly by Yuppies and College students back in the late 70's and early 80's before Cocaine became the drug of choice. In the circles Cosby ran in back then, obtaining this and finding women to take them wasn't hard at all. Decades later, there's remorse. Keep in mind that Alcohol, Cocaine, LSD, Weed were all used to initiate sex as getting laid back then was a helluva lot harder than it is today. Now does this mean Cosby was still drugging women to get laid by the 90's who's to say. It does mean that Cosby has gotten women high to get laid. So have a lot of people who were of age back then. Doesn't make you a serial rapist cause if it did, the prisons would be overflowing and a lot of these new prisoners would be people of note. Back then, it was Quaaludes. Today, I think they're called "roofies" or some such. Difference being, back then women weren't ambushed.
Cosby was made an example out of. He's iconic that plays a role in it. Absolutely wrong that he did this, but it makes you wonder how many other celebrities during that time were doing the same thing?
I'm with you all the way except for the bolded part. Not that I'm out trying to get laid, I just can't imagine in the post-AIDS world where everything is caught on video and will remain there forever its easier to get laid than it was in the 70s.
Hell, there used to be TV evening news articles about the wild parties that went on in the West and East Village not to mention the upper east side etc. Mostly it was musicians, actors, etc. They used to be called: "The Beautiful People" if memory serves. There used to be a sex club called "Plato's Retreat". A club initially for the horny and famous. It was common knowledge that Ludes were the fuel for the most part although I know of one particular young lady. Nevermind that.... Point being that the morals of the Late 70's/early to mid 80's would make a lot of people today blush and most likely piss off every Christian in the western world. Cosby went from comic party animal to Mr. Clean and we all know how much folks love to take Mr. Clean down. Bill Cosby used to be "America's Dad". Now? he's "America's Perv".. Price of fame I suppose.
Well, I say that because of the shift in women's attitudes towards their own sexuality. More often than not, Women choose their mates and not the other way around although men will never admit it. Women today are much more knowledgeable about protection too. Back in the 70's and 80's, you had to have some style and finesse (Game) to get a woman out of her clothes. Lacking that, there was always Ludes or alcohol or some such. Like you said though. We came up in the Pre-AIDS world.
Studio 54, Wolf on Wall Street especially. I bet my generation barely knows about the 70s. It's funny watching my peers talk about Bill Cosby on Facebook.
Check this out... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato's_Retreat Bill Cosby was no Pioneer nor was he the only one using drugs to get laid. He was stupid enough to put it in a deposition though...
The women and there could end up being about a hundred of them said he slipped the pills into their drinks and they didn't agree or know anything about it. I don't remember any kind of a laissez-faire attitude in the 70's on drugging and raping. It's just kind of hard to understand why a guy like Cosby would do it. Or anyone for that matter. I can't see getting off on that. Since it's such a wonderful thing when a woman wants to have sex with you.
Cosby definitely had a guilty conscience after all of these years it appears. Plato's Retreat looked like the spot back in the day though; famous people were sneaking drugs in there prob since the place opened. I am going to watch a documentary on it. "American Swing"
This part, I think is truly cloudy. He admitted he drugged these women, but he didn't mention anything about slipping them pills w/out them knowing [I could absolutely be wrong, any proof?]. This could very well be true, but it could also be made up. No one really knows the truth cept for Cosby and the girl.
