People who use marijuana medicinally do take pills and use it in other forms. Recreational drug users do not for the most part. I have never heard or read anything that indicates that using medicinal opiates has any long-term deleterious health effects. I'm not saying they don't, I just have never heard/read anything to the effect. Also, most people who use a medicinal opiate for pain only use them for a short period of time, not for long, extended periods. Thanks for posting the link on the Ricky Williams story. Again, I had never read/heard anything about that.
No, everyone does NOT smoke pot. Some of us don't need illegal drugs for whatever reasons. So it's legal in 4 states, that doesn't mean jack shit. The four states are notoriously more liberal than other parts of the country. I don't think it will ever be legal in all 50.
Now that hustle play at the end of the Minnesota game makes sense. Sheldon was high as a kite and thought that runner was a big chocolate chip cookie
I would agree with you on the opiates if it wasn't so easy to cross the line from medicinal use to pill popper. It is such a fine line and the players have such easy access to them. You hear stories about guys going broke cause they leave the game beat up and hooked on meds, medical pot would (from any report I read)not be as dangerous once they leave the game. As for the Ricky thing it never got HUGE attention that I can remember outside of an interview on Oprah. I believe it all came out just early of the current spotlight on mental illness as well, just prior to the concussion issue. But rather interesting considering he lived under quite the spotlight for so long while dealing with it.
Them damn gays and their weed plants are ruining this country I tell ya! I thought this was America! Where no harmful drugs (except alcohol and caffeine of course) were allowed to corrupt our youth!
everyone doesn't smoke weed.... im a trucker driving an 80,000 pound vehicle how would you feel about me smoking while driving?? I don't make millions of dollars , but if you offer me that kind of money to play a game ,and told me not to smoke weed I think I could do that !!! I love money more than mary jane ......on a side note when I retired ... im going to sit on my porch smoke weed drink tequila and curse people out !!! till then I`ll continue making good wages living a clean life
I saw a FedEx 18-wheeler driver hitting a bowl on 64 near Charlottesville VA yesterday. I gave him the thumbs up and he returned the gesture.
many of the reputable trucking companies now do hair follicle testing ... even if that's true which I don't believe ,if a driver ever hit someone your going to be drug tested and you will be on the 11 pm news besides going to jail ... think tracy morgan and how he got pay after being hit by 18 wheeler ...you think a huge company like FedEx doesn't drug test there drivers?? think again
Ah, now that's a horse of a different color. If they get hooked on the opiates and/or are taking them illegally (without a prescription, or without proper medical supervision), that's another thing. In that case, yes, opiates can and probably do have a much worse effect on their health.
You gave him the thumbs up because he was driving while smoking pot/crack? Nice. Do you realize how many people those big trucks have killed? Would you have given him a thumbs up if he was slamming back a fifth of vodka or a six pack of beer? Those rigs are hard enough to control in heavy traffic with the way people weave in and out and the way everyone speeds. You think it's "cool" to add pot or alcohol to the mix? SMH If he injured or killed someone, it's on you. You should have called the state police.
Wherever anybody stands on whether weed should be legal or not, is a totally separate conversation. The fact that what Sheldon got caught doing is an incredibly selfish act and is an indefensibly stupid thing to do to the organization and it's fan base. And for the record, I have never had any desire to smoke pot, ever. I also could care less whether it's legalized or not - people want to smoke pot, have at it. They're going to do it regardless of whether it's legal or not...
Views like this aren't a matter of being "outdated" on "antiquated." Comments like yours are so typical for irresponsible shallow thinkers who just go along with what everyone else does, and who can't or won't think for themselves. Pitiful. For some people, there is a moral component or personal responsibility component. Just because cultural views and norms change, doesn't mean they're always right or for the better. If someone came out today and said that if you cut your left hand off you'll get smarter and get laid more often and a bunch of people started doing it, would you?
