The vast majority of NFL players smoke weed. Almost all of them are smart enough to not get caught, however. It's simple, players who aren't in the program get tested ONCE between April and the first week of August. After you have your annual test (as early as April) you can smoke to your heart's content until the next calendar year. Does not learning from his first two failed tests reflect that he isn't in control of his use, and is thus addiction and not abuse, or does it reflect that he is in control but just doesn't care or is too stupid to know better? Hell, which is the better alternative? If it's abuse he is a dumb ass or doesn't care, neither of which reflect anything positive on him and certainly don't warrant any jets fan defending him.
Well said! There is no defending a player who is hurting his team, understandable if it was the first time, not the 3rd, I'm sure it won't be long and he'll be joint Josh Gordonsvranksbsad
So weed allows players who partake the opportunity to bounce back quicker from injuries, fatigue, rough games, rough practices, soreness, etc that is not afforded to players who choose not to smoke the generally illegal drug. But it's not performance "enhancing" and doesn't give one set of players an advantage over a different set of players. Got it. _
i really dont want to read 16 pages to find out what he got caught for.... so does anyone have the information on what drug he used to get suspended?
I love the stuff but if that's their reason for smoking it than it surely isn't that effective for those end reasons. It would be way less effective at those things than painkillers. And the NFL hands those things out like candy. If you think it's performance enhancing than surely you would have to have a bigger problem with those things
If a widely illegal substance allows you to perform your sport better than players that choose not to injest the illegal substance, it's performance enhancing. You may not agree, but it's reality. HGH allows to to train harder and repair from injuries quicker. That's not a quality of life issue, that's a performance enhancer. Baseball players used to eat greenies like chicklets so they could play longer and bounce back from back to back games in the dog days of summer. Same thing. If an illegal substance gives one set of players an advantage over a second set of players, it's a performance enhancer. Massages, vitamins, physical therapy, diet, etc all legal, available to all to enhance performance. _
If the league still hands them out with a prescription and it's allowed under the rules then who am I to argue. They don't hand out greenies anymore. _
And I never said it was the end reason, just that it's a byproduct. I'm sure these guys aren't smoking weed because of the recuperative effects. But they get a benefit that non-smokers don't get. _
Depends what kind they are smoking, strains with high level of CBD are analgesic and anti inflammatory many times without the high level of THC and completely without the addictive effects that pain pills come with. I'm not saying that all of these players are going to dispensaries to get medicinal strains but I think it's likely that many of them do.
what a moron!!!! back in the day I used to love mary jane ...BUT I love my money more!! and gave that shit up , I just don't understand these players today!! dude cost himself half this year salary and future earnings over weed!!! NOT VERY SMART...... now we know why he was missing OTA`s
T-Jet - It really doesn't matter what your opinion is regarding what the NFL should do or shouldn't. Your diatribe is tedious and boorish and is frankly irrelevant to SR's wanton disregard for league policy. He proves that he is a selfish and arrogant fool who just might be stupid too, given the fact this is his 4th violation. BTW - he is a 1 violation from a 1 year ban! Maybe that doesn't mean anything to you but it sure does to me and I am sure the NYJ. He lost whatever leverage he had, gave it to MO and greatly diminished his value in the league to the NYJ... Don't believe me, just ask the Browns about their star WR...
The whole thing is stupid. In 3-5 years every yuppy/trendy neighborhood in this country will have a retail store that sells weed. In 10 years there will be more weed stores than liquor stores in New York Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
