I don't know Sheldon Richardson from a hole in the wall. I don't give a shit about him as a person, he's an entertainer for me. I want him available for my enjoyment. I want him to follow the rules so he's available for my enjoyment.

I have no problem with folks smoking weed. My best friends do it. It's not a moral issue for me. I don't care if they follow rules.

But I don't count on my friends for my sports enjoyment. If Richardson was a Bill or a Pat or a Fin, I'd be happy.

Has nothing to do with my personal relationships.

Lose the schtick or try to understand that the two situations aren't analogous.

That's why MLBs suspensions are 25 and 50 games.

Boy I really hope he isn't that stupid, but the 3rd offence tells me he is, you know your going to get tested, so it just show a complete lack of responsibility

And he apologized, took responsibility for his actions and is moving on.

In the real world they get fired, but that's the deal their union made so it is what it is. As for your use of the word "addict", come on man. Addiction is something you can't live without. Maybe, possibly he has an abuse issue (different from addiction).

    Lighten up Fancis!!!

peterson's was half hearted… Richardson, eh, we'll see how serious he is about this over the next couple years.

in the meantime, we have another D-line prospect to work with and assorted veterans ready to step in in his absence. this also gives loads of leverage with his contract, cant see an extension till this time in 2017 at the earliest, he's got to prove he values the game more than recreation (outdated as the policy may or may not be)

That's the second time you've posted that statement in this thread. I'm not doubting you, but I'm curious. I would like to see some facts and statistics to back that up. I remember in college reading that pot burn a LOT hotter than a cigarette, does more damage and was something like 4-10 times more likely to cause cancer than cigarettes. I know that opiates can be addictive, but I've never seen anything about their causing long-term health risks or damage.

Regarding Williams, do you know that he had social anxiety for a fact? Maybe he left the helmet with visor on so people couldn't see that he was stoned.

I've seen very few justify his actions. That's hardly "everybody." Just because he's addicted doesn't excuse it. Since it's illegal, he never should have used pot to begin with. Since it's against the rules in the NFL, and players don't get drafted, drop in the draft, or get suspended and fined lots of money, he should never have used it. I hate that shit. I'm proud to say that I've never tried it or any illegal drug. I've seen what they did to classmates and others in society.

Wrong. During my 16 years in NYC I worked at PaineWebber, Bear Stearns and Goldman Sachs. All did drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Richardson is a jackass for getting caught smoking weed. He knows that the millions of dollars a year that he makes is dependent on him passing drug tests. If he is going to smoke weed, he should be smart enough not to get caught. As a Jet fan, his idiocy hurts the team and for that he deserves to be shamed. That being said, its absolutely idiotic that in this day and age the NFL is testing and sanctioning players for drugs that aren't performance enhancing. Its absurd that a guy like Antonio Gates who is juicing in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage is treated the same and given the same punishment as Richardson, who smoked a joint, which has absolutely nothing to do with football.

So take THC pills instead of smoking it. Still far better for someone then oxi. And you are seriously saying that repeated use of opium has no long term health affects?

I am happy. Players that break the rules should be punished.

Richardson should get an extra 2 games just for being stupid.

If you break the rules for taking illegal drugs, at least take the ones that will make you a better football player.

    "Everyone" does not smoke pot.

Every single player in the NFL are tested per the NFLPA agreement.

Only complete morons are dumb enough to smoke pot and think they will not get caught.

Richardson is a perfect example of this type of moron.
