    1) "Eyewitness accounts? When?" ..... that would be the accounts of the apostles and others documented in the Bible. There were no cameras back then. ... also, we can include the numerous near-death experiences by people up to the present time. Hard to record what you see and experience on camera while you are in the middle of almost dying, lol.

    2) There's really nothing for me to counter in your second comment, other than to say that thousands of very smart people over the years believe in what you call "bullshit".

    3) "Who created God?" .... well, first of all, God is not a creature, a product of creation. God has been described as the essence of being, or that which underlies everything that exists. It's hard for us humans to understand, what with our limited brains (cue the jokes!). But seriously, God is supernatural, lying outside the physical universe and all that it contains. Call it a cop out if you will, but recall that the latest physics postulates the existence of other dimensions which we can't perceive or even detect with even the most sophisticated equipment. If even science tells us that there are "fairy tale" realms that we can't see or detect, then how hard is it to believe that God could exist in these dimensions that science tells us are there, even if we can't see them? ...... btw, "nothing comes from nothing" is a basic principle of science, not religion. Again, it applies to the physical universe. So according to science, the universe could not have emerged from nothing. So if you don't believe in a supernatural origin of the universe, then what you are really saying is that there is no answer as to how the universe began, that it just doesn't make sense. But there must be an answer as to how the universe began. If it's impossible according to science, then how did the universe begin? The only possible answer then is that there must be an explanation that lies outside of the scope of science.

Do you understand why you are unable to put a cross in a public school? It's unconstitutional for the the state to endorse any single religion. The only work around would be to put a religious symbol for every single religion that exists, including Islam and satanism. I'm not even sure if that would be acceptable.

Name one religious institution that is forced by government to offer their employees services that contradict their religious principles. Hobby Lobby isn't a religious institution.

The ruling by SCOTUS to legalize gay marriage in all 50 states.

Why do you continue to quote the president? It adds nothing to our discussion. Yes, religious bigotry. Not sure what is so LOL about that.

    1. I don't accept the bible as a history source. I can't accept a book full of false science and contradictions as a source. Next.

    2. Smart people believe in god. Smart people don't believe in god. Stupid people believe in god. Stupid people don't believe in god. It's s logical fallacy to say that because many people believe in something that it becomes true.

    3. Logical fallacy. Not knowing something isn't proof for something else.

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

What is this? Does God not know that the earth goes around the sun?

Well, according to science, we know that the universe could not have created itself. Therefore something must have created it. That just follows logically. .... prior to the Big Bang, there was nothing. The Big Bang singularity was the first entity of any kind in an otherwise empty void. So whatever created it must have come from another realm, which we call the supernatural. Again, this is just basic logic.

"Allen affirms that archaeological excavations in the Holy Land have “tended to support the historical value of the Gospels, at least as sources of information about the conditions of their times.”[3] As Nelson Glueck states, on the one hand “It may be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever contraverted a biblical reference”, whereas on the other “Scores of archaeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or exact detail historical statements in the Bible.”[4]

    Archaeologist William F. Albright observes:

The excessive scepticism shown toward the Bible by important historical schools of the eighteenth-and-nineteenth centuries, certain phases of which still appear periodically, has been progressively discredited. Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition to the value of the Bible as a source of history."

Actually the sun standing still would be even more impressive because unless our entire solar system stood still with it, the Milky Way would have moved away from it and all earth life would have ceased until God created new little Adam and Eve dinosaurs that did not need a sustained atmosphere

I like religion. I'm Roman Catholic. Been so since a little boy. Baptized, First Holy Communion, Confirmed by a Bishop (who thankfully didn't ass rape me), married in a Catholic Church, buried my wife in a Catholic cemetery.

I detest evangelical dolts who believe everything their church elders feed them like sheep.

    You.

Seriously, STFU with your naive idiocy. You embarrass yourself and Catholics all over with every post.

Stop using the word logic unless you use it correctly. Not knowing something doesn't prove something else. You can keep repeating your gibberish, but it doesn't change how logic works. We don't know, therefore god is not logic.

Here are a few other guesses as to who or what created the universe:

    A really big unicorn ant
    Sentient cat turds
    A descendant of Jaws

I never understood what was so hard about saying "I don't know ". As if God would damn you to hell for using your brain. I decided when I was around 17 I wasn't going to believe something that didn't make sense just because my parents told me how to think. But when it comes to religion we aren't supposed to use logic? Sorry... I can't get on board with that. There are a lot of stupid people in this world. God would make it pretty clear if he really wanted everyone to believe

Everything happens for a reason? Can't get behind that one either. Sometimes there are faithful people who are unfairly dealt a shit hand and turn away from their faith. So they won't get into heaven but a prick who turns to God on death row will? Nope.... My brain can't and doesn't want to accept that God

If I go to hell for being a decent human being that doesn't believe in god then so be it. At least I didn't have the power to stop babies from being cooked in microwaves and decided to let it happen. I will rest in peace

You just contradicted yourself. First you say you like religion, and you're Catholic, but then you say you don't believe what you were taught about your faith. You can't be Catholic and not believe what the wise, educated "elders", as you call them, have learned and passed on to you. You don't make any sense, and instead just keep hurling nonsensical insults. Of course you are free to post in this thread, but you don't even attempt to debate me, or any other religious person here. Because to debate someone, you have to read and consider carefully what that person is saying, not just keep your mind closed and repeat what you have been fed by South Park, Bill Maher, or whatever you watch on TV or fill your mind with. If you claim I am brainwashed, then I can turn around and say you are just as brainwashed....but at least I am "brainwashed" by objective truths which I have carefully studied, thought about, and decided for myself were true. You, on the other hand, just seem to repeat the one-liners and sound bites you have been fed on TV and in the movies. Or worse, you just claim I am wrong or call me names without stating any good reasons for it.
