The x-mas eve debacle vs the giants. This game ruined the holidays.

Jets- Pats 1978 Pat Leahy misses a 30 yard Fg on the last play of the game, we lose 19-17, evenyually costing us the playoffs...the crowd was nuts that day and when he missed the kick you could hear a pin drop in Shea

1981 WC game against the Bills. Jets stage furious rally and then Bill Simpson intercepts Todd with seconds remaining at the 2 yard line. Jets lose 31-27.

Namath has said that was the most heartbreaking loss of his career.

I agree. Losing the Mud Bowl after beating Lyle Alzado and the Raiders the week before was REALLY hard.

Also, losing to Denver (1998) was a close second.

Losing to Cleavland was our own fault (Gastineau)

    Aaron Island.

Who's 91? He's the only Jet that actually played that snap.

LOL, but the rehab can hurt more than the actual game.

Was that the game we fumbled the opening KO and the Bills ran it back for TD? That was fuckin brutal.

that sucked but Idk that it stacks up that highly really in terms of historically tough to swallow losses. It was just another shitty late season Jets debacle. Those kind of things are seemingly an annual occurrence!

I didn't think the Jets would win that Denver game going in because Denver was stacked. There was hope because the Jets were on such a roll but Denver was awesome that year. But to be leading 10-0 in the 3rd quarter???? and blow it. That made it hurt!!

There was some weird very random shit in that game which makes it worse too!

Curtis Martin one of the all-time most reliable RBs. Lowest fumbling rate out of any RB with more than 1500 carries, has a key fumble early in the game after a great punt return had the Jets in Denver territory..
Keith Byers had lost only 1 fumble in the 5 seasons prior to that game! has an even worse fumble deep in Denver territory
Alex Van Dyke who NEVER played & only had 5 catches all year, managed to have a 4th quarter fumble
And... then there was that wacky fumble on the kickoff following Denver's first TD where the game went from 10-0 to 10-10 in a blink

tough call I have a few:

2000 jets vs ravens week 17 to miss playoffs after dropping 500+ yards in total offense.
doug brien shank (2x) vs steelers in playoffs

OK, Thanks. What threw me is that it's not the angle I remember. While watching the game, and all the views I've seen since, it's a view from the end zone camera, and one clearly sees the fake spike then the throw, and Aaron Glenn standing there flat-footed completely fooled.
