I agree on Holmes but Cotchery wanted to be released, we didn't have the option to extend him for cheap like Pittsburgh because he wanted to be there not here The decision was between Holmes and Edwards not Holmes and Cotchery. They coulda kept him no matter what decision they made with that. Cotchery asked to be released and they granted that request. I did like Cotchery the player though.
IMO, he wanted to be released because of Holmes and partly Sanchez, I know it's speculation but here's my reasoning. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/15503/cotchery-its-weird-to-face-jets http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/01/ex-jets_wr_jerricho_cotchery_s.html Call me crazy, Holmes got that extension and it soured on Cotchery. We should of kept Cotchery around a few more years. Braylon wasn't the problem. I mean things went sour with Braylon, but I thought Braylon / Cotchery / Keller were 3 good targets for Mark [3 out of 4 games earlier in the 2010 season]. I never wanted Tanny to give Holmes that money.
I think the point Edge is making is that, Chad was a great QB when he was healthy - to the point where he's not often talked about. Chad was an elite QB. If Chad stayed healthy, we prob see another SB appearance and we are talking about Chad being the best QB in Jets history. This essentially makes him underrated. We are sitting around talking about Ken O'Brien - Chad was 10x better IMO
You must've forgot that we brought in Plaxico Burress/Derrick Mason basically to replace Cotchery. I'd be annoyed and want to leave too. Especially after all he gave for the team.
Ditto on Kyle Clifton Started for 11 years, played all 13 years of his career with the Jets 1,468 tackles and 12 Ints
BTW - If Kyle Brady had ANY semblance of hands, he would have made this list, because there were professional offensive linemen who could not block as well as Brady. It's a shame he had the worst receiving hands I have ever seen.
You know what - I WAS talking about Becht, not Brady!! Great catch here! Wow, we had a LOT of bad TE's after Mickey Shuler
I always liked slausen and didn't think he deserved the hate towards him. I though he was an above average guard. I don't know why we didn't resign him, he didn't cost Must
