This troll has been repeating the idiocy that science proves the existence of religion/God and then continues to post evangelical brainwashed drivel that says nothing of the kind.

    Too funny.

And yet you have provided nothing but stories. Stories are not proof.

Yeah but what if those stories are believed by millions?

    Still not proof?

    Wait a minute.

I've been led to believe by one of our most "respected" posters that the existence of God can be proven by science and he has put up as clear and convincing proof what many consider to be highly fictionalized stories but what many deluded millions choose to believe are true and you are doubting him?

Lest me remind you he was top 5% is his high school class.

I'm tapping out of this one. No matter what anyone posts he is just going to come back with miracles and other made up stories.
    Not worth my time anymore.

God is real because it says so in the bible. The bible is the divinely inspired of word of God. Proof #1.

God sent his only son to save us. Proof #2

I made a piece of toast and I saw the blessed mother. Proof #3

What other proof do you need?

It seems so obvious to me that all organized religions are nothing but man-made nonsense. I can't get my brain around how any reasonable adult can believe any of it. I can understand how someone can believe in a creator, even though I don't ... But how can you possibly look at all the different rules, customs, rituals, atrocities, contradictions, misconceptions, etc. of EVERY organized religion and NOT come to the obvious conclusion that they were all invented by men?? ... And all the major ones, by ancient men with ancient minds.

Religious people --- please explain to me how you can't see this.

You obviously haven't been exposed to the Catholic Church. It is, and here I quote, "the gateway to authentic personal freedom."

In other words, slave, black is white if I say it is.

Pretty soon some joker is going to come into this thread and say the Catholic Church invented divorce.

    http://rt.com/news/269611-pope-francis-divorce-synod/

Pope Francis: Sometimes divorce can be a ‘moral necessity’

Pope Francis may go down in history as the Catholic leader most actively supporting divorce, after saying the practice was “morally necessary.” However, the pontiff’s position could face obstacles at an upcoming bishops’ meeting.

The Catholic Church is known worldwide for being staunchly anti-divorce, but according to Francis there are certain moral imperatives, which make divorce a lesser evil. He was talking about the humiliation a wife could suffer at the hands of an abusive spouse. Also, if there are children, their safety must be considered.

The Pope’s remarks come ahead of an important bishops’ conference set to mull over many issues Catholics consider crucial, including whether remarried divorcees can take communion.

“There are cases in which separation is inevitable,” Francis told an audience gathered on St. Peters Square.
“Sometimes, it can even be morally necessary, when it’s about shielding the weaker spouse or young children from the more serious wounds caused by intimidation and violence, humiliation and exploitation.”

His Holiness also said separation and divorce had created many "so-called irregular families, even if I don't like this word." However, he said the Church must figure out a way to help out as best it can, “and in particular to seek ways to avoid children becoming ‘hostages of daddy or mummy.’”

Francis, elected two years ago, has gained prominence and infamy – depending on where you stand – for promoting an alternate outlook on things such as homosexuality and divorce. But the pontiff has made it clear the aim here is for an inclusive society, a view supported by Catholic liberals, who have shown support for a continued push towards freedom for all at the upcoming three-week Synod in Rome this fall.

Nevertheless, there could be more than a bump ahead for those seeking reform, as a document released earlier this week practically eliminated any chance of reversing the current ban on communion for divorced Catholics who remarry. While the paper – also known as an instrumentum laboris – tries to balance out the modern with the traditional, some continue to see it as a repeat of what the Church said last year.

The paper, widely seen as a barometer for things to come in October, instead sets its sights on reaffirming the Catholic Church’s position on practically every matter reformists are opposed to, including the ban on birth control.

The first meeting of this sort took place in October last year, with Francis then warning the bishops against the temptation to “transform bread into stone and throw it against the sinners, the weak, and the sick – to turn [it] into ‘unbearable burdens.’”

What do you mean by that? Give me one example of how "science proved religion wrong" .... saying that science cannot prove something is not the same as saying that science has disproven it. Science cannot prove that God exists, or that miracles have occurred, because science deals with the physical, natural universe, while religion deals with the spiritual, or supernatural. They will never prove or disprove each other because they deal with different aspects of reality.

You are mistaking evidence for proof. They are two different things. Eyewitness accounts serve as evidence in court, but do not by themselves prove any case. Much of the evidence for God's existence consists of eyewitness accounts. And science will never be able to prove God's existence because science studies the natural world, while God exists in the supernatural. Science studies the physical world, while God, angels, and demons operate in the spiritual world. And if this sounds "out there" to you, it just shows how brainwashed we have become by the secular world we live in. (heck it sounds "out there" to me as I type the words, I'll admit it!)

...and if you think that all there is is the physical universe, then we are back to the problem of how a strictly physical universe could have created itself. In the physical universe, nothing comes from nothing, matter and energy are never created or destroyed, and nothing can create itself. That's why, using what we know about science today, it follows logically that there must be something more, there must be a supernatural reality behind the creation of the physical universe...because the alternative is impossible, and nonsensical, unless all we know about science today is wrong. Anyone who tries to explain how a purely physical universe sprung into existence apart from a Creator will inevitably have to contradict basic, fundamental laws of science. I have yet to hear a reasonable rebuttal to this; just stupid mindless insults, or the cop out that "just because science can't explain it now doesn't mean that they won't be able to some day". That argument doesn't hold water because of what I just pointed out.

The short answer .... religion, just like the current scientific explanation for life, has evolved over the millenia.

Religion has evolved. God has revealed Himself in different ways, at different times, to different cultures around the world. We don't all experience life in exactly the same way. We live in different environments, with different ways of living. Different people explain the same God in different ways. Have you ever heard the famous "elephant in the room" analogy? Imagine a gigantic elephant, surrounded by people on all sides. The elephant is so big that people will only see a small part of it, depending on where they are standing. In a similar way, God is so "big" that people around the world experience that same God in different ways depending on their perspective.

In addition, humanity has "evolved" over the years. People have grown in their understanding of God over the years, as God has revealed himself to humanity in stages. First, there was Adam and Eve. God told them they could enjoy all of creation, with no pain, suffering, etc, a pure utopia. With one little exception, they could not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve were completely innocent, they didn't even know that sin was a possibility, and evil was completely foreign to them. Then the serpent (satan) tricked them, and they chose to disobey God. The first sin. Original sin, which scarred their souls and was passed on to all people to come. As time went on, humanity became so corrupt that God decided to wipe out all humanity and start over (the flood, and Noah's Ark). Then God revealed Himself to Abraham, to help lead His people, and later God gave Moses the 10 commandments. The people tried to live their lives according to those rules, but it didn't work out so well. They remained enslaved by sin. Finally, in a brilliant act of redemption, God entered humanity Himself in the person of Christ Jesus. The ultimate union of God and man. Jesus taught by His example, his words, and his ultimate sacrifice of love for us. Jesus came for ALL PEOPLE, everywhere in the world. It was meant to be truly universal (catholic), the evolution of religion. And it spread all throughout the world, and has survived and thrived for over 2000 years, despite repeated efforts by world powers to snuff it out. Countless heresies, false prophets, and counterfeit religions have come and gone, but Christianity has survived. And taking a more global view, the 3 dominant world religions, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, all share common roots. Catholicism represents God's most recent, and we believe final, revelation to mankind.

Let's start with Genesis. The world was not created in 6 days. Light did not exist before the sun. The Earth is not 6,000 years old.
