Yeah, all the walking I did after my surgery built my capacity up pretty good.
I was thinking about biki9ng but probably have to trade my regular bike in and get a recumbent bike, back gets bad from leaning over the handle bars. Cheapest I found is $900 though Checked craigslist and found a bunch not too badly priced, as low as $220.

    Great job!.

It has been quite a while, but I have done the wake-up-in the-morning-and-do-a-5K-with-no training thing.

It sounds a lot easier than it is, and I have to give you a lot of credit.

Now for the recovery, I suggest that you take it easy today. If anything feels sore right now, put some ice on it. Maybe take some Advil or something before you hit the sack tonight. A warm or hot bath might help tomorrow night. Take a few days off, and go out for a light run.

If you can get into a routine of regular jogging or running, your next race will a piece of cake.

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope that will be okay. Enjoy the rest of your Father's Day.

    Awesome!

Advil yes. With a quart of Gatorade.

(The Standard hangover preventative measure)...some stretching before bed, will make tomorrow less awkward when you arise.

Holy shit you actually did it?!?

I was just bullshitting with my tripe.

No seriously, well done WB. Not that bad, right? It's the perfect starting distance. I wouldn't suggest starting with a 10k or even 5 miles. But a little over 3 miles should be doable for a relatively in shape dude, which it sounds like you are.

    Good job.

    Thank you all
RPOZ, I have the meds covered with my scrips.
Don't think I'll be doing anymore runs though, at least until after my next surgery. Probably going to start biking again as was suggested. Recumbent bike should give me an ok workout and be easy on my back.
Have my jug of water by my side hydrating.

That's good. Hopefully, you won't be in a lot of pain.

I hope your back doesn't give you too much more trouble.

The morphine, hydrocodone and neurontin help with the pain

Even a guitar needs an amplifier.

And for the finisher, tonight went to an new Asian massage that just opened up. Not sure how that little Asian woman fit so much strength in such little hands, feet and every other body part she uses. She just crawled up on top and had her knees working with her hands and feet. It was late so only got the half hour but for $35 can't complain.
No, no happy ending but I'll be going back for the Shiatsu/Thai combo.
