Geno: The bar has been set so low, that merely serviceable would make him look surprisingly good. I think he can achieve serviceable with this roster.
Off- Chris Owusu, showed flashes when on the field last year. I think Gailey will try to utilize his world class speed. And for Defense, I think Coples takes the leap this year (big year from him) I agree with earlier post, Bowles gets him motivated and schemes him to 10.5 -12sacks
That would be awesome but with Couples coming up on his contract year Macc would fire Bowles if he lets Couples get 12 sacks!
I guess we have different definitions of what a JAG is. At his best he's probably a backup on this team IMO
We definitely need more production at the linebacker position - I see Henderson as a good 3rd linebacker off the bench. It's been a while since we've had decent depth at the linebacker position. If we run a 4-3 play, he would be on the field for sure.
Offense = Brent Qvale - watch him replace Breno at RT. Defense = Dexter McDougle. You did say "surprise".
Nice thread, these kinds of questions are fun to think about. My choice is Antonio Allen. I think he will beat out Gilchrist for a starting spot opposite Pryor.
Qvale is definitely interesting. He seems to have come out of nowhere competing with the first team at guard. He's an excellent candidate.
So what your saying he now got a legit #1 wr and the best talent be had since joining the Jets. Sounds to me every QB needs that.
Surprise Player Offense = Chris Owusu Surprise Player Defense = Quinton Coples I like what Owusu did with his limited snaps last season, especially in the last MIA game. Made an impressive catch and then showed athletic ability on an end around. The viral video jump box thing he did this offseason didn't hurt my perception of him either. Coples, imo, will finally have his breakout year. He will move back to DE/Line and due to Sheldon, Wilkerson, and Leonard Williams drawing double teams, Coples will wreak havoc. In addition it doesn't hurt that the secondary can hold its own, meaning the QB will have to hold on to the ball longer. And when Coples sacks/tackles he really wrecks them.
