    1. Maynard was better than Martin

    2. Gastineau is the all time NFL sack leader (Favre taking a dive does not count). He and Klecko also set the record for most sacks by two teammates in one season. They both belong on Mount Rushmore together.

    3. Revis is a great player but he and Martin have to fight it out for fifth Beetle.

    Namath Martin Klecko Mangold

I'd consider Revis* but for me now he'll always have a * next to his name for winning a SB with the Pats. Can't put that player on the JETS mt rush.

Nope, but it would have a curtain that opened up once you paid $20 for the viewing fee.

After looking into it a bit more, I would replace Chrebet with Maynard. Chrebet is my favorite all time Jet WR. But for what Maynard accomplished in his era, he's got to be on that wall.

So far it seems that Joe Namath is a unanimous choice.

While not unanimous, Don Maynard also seems to be a consensus pick.

Lets take a closer look at the leading contenders for the remaining spots:

    Mark Gastineau
10 year career - all in a Jets uniform - 5 time pro bowler - 3 time first team all pro
Started 107 of 137 games regular season - started 5 of 7 playoff games
Had 107.5 sacks n his first 100 starts (first three years sacks were not an official statistic)
Had 9 sacks in 7 playoff games - All time single season sack leader (22 sacks)

    Joe Klecko
12 year career - 11 or 12 in a Jet uniform - 4 time pro bowler (at 3 different positions) - 2 time first team all pro
Started 131 of 140 games regular season - started 2 of 5 playoff games
    77.5 regular season sacks - 20.5 in one season - 8 as a rookie - 7.5 as a DT
Had 1 sack in 5 playoff games (missed at least 2 due to injury)

Note - The NFL strike came at the peak of the NY sack exchange in 1982 - Gastineau crossed the picket line to play all 9 games while Klecko played only 2 games that year. Gastineau's sack totals over a four year span were 1981 - 20, 1982 - 6, 1983 - 19, 1984 - 22 with both Gastineau and Klecko making the pro bowl in each of those four years (with Klecko only missing the pro bowl in 1982). If the strike had not happened they would have had one hell of a year in 1982.

    Curtis Martin
11 year career - 8 in a Jet uniform - 3 time pro bowler - 1 time first team all pro as a Jet
Started 123 of 123 regular season games with 58 rushing TDs, 4.0 yards / rushing attempt, 83.8 rushing yards / game
    17 Fumbles, 5 receiving TDs, 19.8 receiving yards / game, 6.6 yards / reception,
10,302 rushing years plus 2,439 receiving yards in the regular season as a Jet
    Started 7 of 7 playoff games, rushing - 3 TDs, 3 Fumbles, averaged 4.0 yards / attempt, 75.4 / game receiving - 0TDs, 8.6 yards / reception, 35.7 yards / game

    Darrelle Revis
8 year career - 6 in a Jet uniform - 4 time pro bowler - 3 time first team all pro as a Jet
Started 79 of 79 regular season games (14 missed due to injury in 2012)
    19 INTs - 364 yards - 3 TDs, 1 FF, 6 FR, 241 tackles, 53 assists
    Started 6 of 6 playoff games - 2INTs - 26 yards, 16 tackles, 6 assists

All of the above stats were earned in a Jet uniform. Martin and Revis have a better case if you include their accomplishments with the Patriots but including them would open the door for Brett Favre, Ronnie Lott, John Riggins, and Art Monk to be the big four.

    So much for consensus.

Here is a little info on Don Maynard that may help the skeptics to realize his greatness:

Record for highest yards per catch (18.7) of any player with more than 600 catches
His total yards and completions were the most ever in pro football at the time of his retirement
First player ever to sign with the Titans in 1960
Maynard and Art Powell were the first WR tandem with 1,000+ yards each in the same season
Member of All-time AFL team (first team), one of 20 players to play all 10 years of AFL history
Played 15 years (including 13 in a Jet or Titan uniform) 4 time pro bowler, 4 time AFL all star, 1 time first team all pro
    172 games as a Jet / Titan, 88 TDs, 5 Fumbles, 18.7 yards / reception, 68.2 yards / game
    3 playoff games, 2 TDs, 19.4 yards/ reception, 45.3 yards / game

Don Maynard did not play in SBIII due to a hamstring injury suffered in the AFL championship game against the Raiders where he led the team to victory with 118 yards and 2 TDs.

In defense of Kevin Mawae on the mountain:

Career AV of 153 (90 with the Jets)
7 consecutive seasons with an AV over 10, which alongside Curtis Martin is the Jets All-time record for an AV run
3 All-Pro appearances (2 with the Jets) and was a Pro Bowler in 6 consecutive seasons with the Jets with his great 1998 campaign not recognized in that way because the voters were blind
Jets won 66 out of the 118 games he started for them, which is probably the best mark all time for them of anybody who started 100 games with the Jets with Curtis Martin the other guy in the running
Listed as #391 all time in the Fan ELO rater, 1 spot in front of Marvin Powell
The only Jet aside from Darrelle Revis commonly seen as the best at his position for more than a couple of seasons during his career

Damn, thought about Elliot but forgot about Mawae for some reason

I am going to revise my picks:

    1. Joe Namath
    2. Mark Gastineau
    3. Kevin Mawae
    4. Joe Klecko

That strike year really spiked Gastineau and Klecko. If they could have played a full 16 game season together in 1982 they could have been nasty.

As of right now Don Maynard is the fifth Beetle with Revis breathing down is neck (they both lose points for being fufu players and not manning the trenches).

If someone, anyone can be found to effectively play the guard position perhaps Mangold could make his way into the conversation.

I don't think Champ understood the premise. His Mount Rushmore is quite odd.

    JWN= Joe Willie Namath
    DM= Dan Majerle
    VB= Valerie Bertinelli
JE= Former VP Candidate John Edwards
