Do we have money left to sign him. Doesn't he want something like 6 mil?

He won't even get his 5.75 or whatever his Eagles' salary was. That said, we have like 4 mill in cap space.

4 mil left. That's not much! Don't they usually keep a reserve to cover themselves for injuries during the season. So not sure if it's feasible to sign him. Of course the Jets can cut players to save money, too.

Wish the Eagles cut him earlier, we could have brought him in instead of Carpenter.

No doubt an upgrade, but the guy's holding out for a reason.

Doesn't matter. Jets can give him an 8$ mil signing bonus with incentives in his first year, and some guaranteed next year. There's ways to structure it without the cap.

BTW those figures are just an example.

Something like $5 mil signing bonus
    3 mil in 2015
7 mil in 2016 (clear if cut by 6/1)

    Also,

I see IND and DEN making a push and don't sleep on NE.

If he wants a ring it'll be IND and DEN.

If he doesn't want to relocate it'll be NYJ.

If NE gets involved they will win since they offer both possibilities in 2015.

It would be a great signing if structured right, but we can't use the entire cap. Come on Mac work your magic!!

We dont have a ton of money, or a guaranteed winner.

I imagine he'll sign with a team that can offer at least one of the two.

The Jets are weak at guard. He'd be the perfect player to grab.

But with the Wilkerson situation, I dont know how realistic it is right now.

We already have a lot invested in 30+ year old win now players. I'd prefer not to add more, especially if we need to steal for future cap money to make the numbers work now.

Gaurd is a problem, id rather work to solve it long term then to plug it for a year or two when we dont have a realistic shot to compete for something meaningful. id rather let these guys we have fight it out and see if any of them can be long term keepers.

    Lol.

  15. We don't know what we have at guard yet outside of Carpenter.OTA/Minicamp is pretty much just assignment football/install for OL. We won't know where these guys are at until they get the pads on.

One would have to think between Aboushi,Dozier, the rookie & Winters;that one of them will step up & take the job.If not,the Jets have Colon as a security blanket.

Not saying Mathis isn't a great player..but Jets only have 4 mill to play with.

Cut Cumberland, babin, pace, colon just to name a few. b\There are a lot of easy cuts on this team that will free up a little wiggle room to shore up our o-line.

This is the signing this team desperately needs.

Geno is no A-rod. We need a great running game to take advantage of our wr's. If the defense has to worry about great wr's and a dominate running game we can for once have a dominate offense. Dominate offense + dominate defense + wins = bitches

IF he's still available after training camp we have a shot at em. we have a lot of depth at certain positions that's kinda unnecessary. Like MLB, DT, RB & Guards. I'm sure we'd free up enough to give em a 1 yr deal, while we hope the kid Jarvis Harrison develops over the season

Maybe Mac low balls him like Idzik, need that 4 mil for a rainy day

Why go to Indy or Denver? the 2015 Jets are loaded for a playoff run.

    Just er...small matter of quarterback

If we need a guard we should take the pro bowler.

Mo's contract situation should not enter into the decision.

We will still have cap room to extend Mo if we want too.

And why we don't have enough money for Mathis?... Cause of... YOUR GOOD OL' BUDDY DAVID HARRIS!

(Sarcasm, thank God you've moved on finally)
