I'd hate to have to part with Wilkerson. But Rivers would be a great fit for this team. For me, it just comes down to not wanting to turn the ball over to Fitzpatrick or Geno with a talented roster behind them. We know what Fitz is and unless Geno takes a huge step forward we'll waste the strong roster we have due to mediocre at best QB play. In a perfect world you wouldnt wanna move Wilk. But with his contract issues and the drafting of Williams. He's the best fit for a trade.
While I don't have a dog in this fight and do not wish to sound like, um, one of those 'annoying TGG posters,' I do have (out of curiosity) a question: do you speak to other fans of the Jets Offensively? Hope all's well junc.
The likelihood of the trade considered n this thread is small, but it is also hugely dependent on how far away from what the FO is considering paying Wilkerson from what he and his agents will demand or are demanding. While I feel differently, imo they will not trade Wilkerson if they feel he comes close enough on the numbers that they can live with his contract. I just hope they don't box themselves into paying too much on the DL, since I would rather hold onto Richardson than Wilkerson. To be clear I am guessing the new guys won't want to risk what would be involved in a blockbuster trade for Rivers. Funny how the main reason Idzik is gone is that he could not be agile enough in managing potential moves, and yet new people with no previous experience at the top tend to be conservative in such situations. Everywhere else this is or could be a playoff team this year and, with one or two other moves next off season, a real SB contender. Everywhere else but at Qb, where the team seems okay with yet another season of figuring out whether Smith might be minimally acceptable as a starting Qb. Nobody realistically expects him to overnight become a top tier Qb. Like Rivers. Many things concern me about this team. Add to it that the rest of the roster seems on a different timeline than what they are looking at with SMith.
Wow....cman. in life, everyone can dream of being god-like. You did it. Good for you. He tells a poster that he is "beneath" him. That's a classic junc. His list of being on the wrong side of right is so extensive....you would need Google and a team of searchers to gather them all up. Personally? I never got over my arguments with him over Herm Edwards and him defending him to this day. Hey junc...I'm sure you are lurking ....just remember...you play to win the game bud.
Lol.....bb...that second paragraph....is a classic. Somebody should have paid you 200 an hour for that one.
This is as absurd a question as asking if you'd trade Wilk for Doc Rivers; and no, I wouldn't, Doc was sub-par on D when he was a Knick.
