I seem to recall discussion about this with the majority believing he was a SS who would take over for Landry at SS this year. In your defense, NFL.com lists him as a FS in the 2014 draft. I liked him more than Clinton-Dix at the time too. I think its fair to say that he did not overly impress in his rookie season although he showed enough to be optimistic this season--even if he's playing FS at times. So, I'm in agreement with you that he may be a contributor this year.
This is where Idzik has to take the blame. They had to have Landry out there to make the calls and it put Antonio Allen and Pryor in terrible positions to succeed. It should be much more versatile this year It was unfair to them, and Rex....ridiculous...It was a shambles Pryor is better off not saying anything tho. No excuses moving forward It's gonna be great to see how our DB's play out in camp.
I mostly agree with this except for the implication in the last phrase that a player has no place questioning a coach's decision. But yeah, it's not like he was being asked to play something like DL. It's the NFL. Sometimes you have to make adjustments to better fit into what the team needs.
Pryor is going to be a good strong safety. The question is whether they try to convert Milliner to free safety over the next year or two. Bowles doesn't play Cover-2 any more than Rex did and Milliner is better off the ball.
yeah this is actually a really good point. Someone needs to tell Cro this isn't Rex's Jets and to stfu
definitely a fair point IMO. But yet and still, Rex has to handle the cards he's dealt. Did he maximize it? I guess that would be subjective. But a valid point.
Ever since Cro went to broadcaster boot camp and decided he wants to be a media member he has been running his mouth to the press
Caught a blurb in another thread that Bowles told Cro to focus on our team and winning games and not the outside world. The exact words came across well I'm not quoting exactly.
Well he played Coples out of position, too. And that's the GMs fault. I guess nothing was ever Rex's fault.
Rex was like an enabler...the parent that spoils the kids...then the kids get older and daddy is gone and they blame the guy that gave them permission to say whatever they wanted...show up when they wanted. As a reward for this, they put daddy first only the last 1 or 2 games of the season to try to save the enabler and cost us....the fans...a worse pick. Rex can add to his resume that his teams are lights out week 17. Then the enabler leaves and the psychiatrist (media) is called in to blame the enabler for what happened. Both the enabler and the children should all go f themselves and shut up.
It's called [putting the players in position to succeed] - and Rex failed just that. And Pryor is pointing that out. Hard concept? I didn't think so.
It doesn't matter what position he would have played, he took a lot of horrible angles to the runner. That should worry some people.
Why does every Jets player have a massive ego,Pryor needs to stop making excuses....its not like he was a Saftey playing left tackle he got exposed ....
Dude, you're whining and crying to the wrong guy. I am not a Rex guy and have stated my criticisms of him too, and am not making excuses for him here. Of course a couple of his apologists got all butt hurt too. I'm talking about the Secondary only here and what a fiasco it turned out to be. It SUCKED Thank God it's over. It might have been the biggest reason, other than Geno, for the most disappointing season I've experienced since Kottite A fan is allowed to be critical of things. I was a little critical of Dawan Landry when I first came on here when an 'expert' came down on me for being clueless, or some bullshit, that he had decided in his mind, lol. As you can see people are racing to sign him, SMH
I don't think it was a question of being a "free" or "strong" safety for Pryor or Rex's D for that matter. He's said many times that his safety spots are interchangeable depending on the situation. Rex generally prefers "in the box" type safeties both schematically & personnel wise..I believe the Jets were hoping to get an in the box safety w/ plus range for multiple looks when they drafted Pryor. When we flaked out at corner that changed things. Jets were forced to play a lot of cover 2 & 3 which puts the safeties in a lot of space. That's not Pryor's game. W/ this corner group & d-line, he's gonna have no excuses if he doesn't perform his role very well. He'll have plenty of opportunities to tee off on guys & really get to the football. He can be a very good enforcer..which is something this defense has really needed.
If YOU chose to play a player out of his normal position, stfu when he doesn't handle it well...it was Your choice...it's your mistake when it doesn't go well.
