Since it's not even the regular season, if geno plays poorly, I'm going to be pessimistic. If he plays well, I'm not going to be optimistic because it's not the regular season . . .
I agree we shouldn't over react to one day of practice INT's but wtf does Garoppolo have to do with this and who cares if he threw 5 picks? Is he supposed to be some sort of measuring stick? If we see these INT's being a pattern in practice I'm sure Fitz will be getting more first string reps sooner than later.

Talked to him, he's ready to go - Doesn't know how good the D-Line is (when pressed), haven't played yet, time will tell - Amaro just sore, nothing serious - Saw leadership in Geno, couple good throws, bad throws, he's growing as a player - Throws the ball vs a good DB's, tipped passes, things happen - Bowles never held out or anything like that, didn't make the money Mo makes either (tongue in cheek) - Expects the offense to pick it up in 2nd week of camp when they get to do more in terms of protection, poiting out blitzers etc. it takes time - Mo is a pro, he's ready to go That's it.
all our QB's throwing picks, and struggling in red zone......but hey it's early with a new offense against a solid defense. some of that is to be expected. Geno gets extra points for getting picked by Eskridge tho interesting that RG was primarily Winters, with Qvale getting a little time. Miles having a very impressive start. good to hear names of McDougle and Mauldin being applauded. glad to hear Fitz is full tilt on the sprints. he's totally making a point, and i like that. #antiVick
True, but they were drooling all over him before he tossed all those picks. Young QBs make a lot of mistakes in practice. I mean it's not great to hear with Geno obviously but let's not go "there" yet.
The truly sad fact is that Geno could blow chunks all over the field for another season and still turn out to be good when something clicked for him. Hasn't happened all that recently but it has happened. I think the Bills did the right thing with E.J. Manuel last year. They didn't like what they saw despite a 2-2 record and they sat him down for the rest of the season. They didn't have a world beater to go out there and replace him but they'd seen enough of Manuel to know he wasn't going to help them much. I'm hoping the Jets make that decision also with Geno if things are going poorly early on. Light bulbs can come on at any time but that's no reason to set yourself up for 4-12 again when the light is still clearly off.
Defense is commonly ahead of the offense this time of year. Especially when you have more talent on that defense and an offense working in a new system. I'm not one bit surprised or discouraged by these reports.
I get what you're saying but I just want to highlight that the defense is also a new system. That offense doesn't get that excuse this year.
but defense itself is reactionary in nature, so the disadvantage in working in a new system always lies with the offense where you have to dictate the play. Especially in practice 1.
i'm not looking to make any excuses for the O, as we've seen this all before.. but you have to admit, the talent level on D far exceeds them. and the transition to a new offense is a lot more complex than a transition to a new defense. especially when that defense is conceptually very similar. base D still a 3-4, Dline still 2 gapping and playing the same techniques (with same returning starters), LB core similar responsibilities (and same returning starters), CB's still playing a lot of man coverage. biggest learning curves (outside of rookies) are probably for the Safeties and Skrine on D. it's one of the reasons i was glad to land Bowles, and re-sign a few of the veteran starters.......easier transition for what will remain the strength of our team. if we get a couple weeks into training camp, and it's still the same story......then i'll start to grow very concerned.
