I mean... I get when people say winning the off season doesnt mean anything because it is not an actual win in the season. But it does mean a lot because the Jets took a team that had a lack of talent at several positions and put in players who are proven talents. The team is clearly more talented then it was last year and that is a reason to be happy and excited.

I haven't seen an asterisk on any official NFL listing of SB chàmps. Since it seems envious fans of other teams can indiscriminately add one, if I live long enough to see the Jets win another Lombardi, I'm going to add one.

Maybe it's better to have a QB that starts out bad, only to find out he's actually pretty good, than start out with a QB that seems elite only to find out 5 yrs later he's avg at best. At least Geno won't be cashing $20M game checks anytime soon unlike Flacco and Cutler.

I'm sure it doesn't mean a lot to teams that win a lot of games but when you have the type of offseason like we had for the two previous seasons, one like we have had so far this year seems like night and day different. We'll see if it translates to wins

Geno having a breakout year is just step one. Everything else has to go right also, meaning no injury wave and no sudden declines by the over-30's and no weird off the field stuff interfering.

The current Jets roster has a bunch of potential fail points in it and it will take a lot of adroit maneuvering and luck to navigate them all successfully.

The Jets have an unusual number of fail points due to the ages of their best players and the inconsistency and talent levels at QB.

In 2011 the Jets best players on offense and defense were Nick Mangold and Darrelle Revis. It's 2015 and both those guys are over 30 and both are still the best players on their respective units. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is still the second best player on offense and he's over 30 also.

The Jets will be starting at least 2 other key players on offense over 30 in Brandon Marshall and Breno Giacomini. They may well be starting Ryan Fitzpatrick and Willie Colon as well.

On defense the Jets will be starting another CB over 30 in Cro and an ILB over 30 in David Harris.

The failure points are really unusual for a team that went 4-12 last year. Most teams that are that bad are younger the following year, not older and certainly not older in terms of over-30's.

Because of the way the Jets are structured now and how they approached the off-season the most likely "cap" casualty is not the usual over-30 star in decline. He's a 26 year old guy on the rise.

    Think about it.

oh the asterisk is very much there, and always will be.
there is nothing arbitrary about being convicted twice of cheating.

there is no official asterisk next to Barry Bonds or Arod.
but when that all time home run list is viewed, everyone knows what's up.
they'll never be viewed the same way as others on that list.
same thing already applies to the Pats, and always will.

    Exactly.

When the time comes to write the mythical book on Belli, Brady and the Pats, right there in the first paragraph on the very first page will be big bold references to "Cheaters".

They will never be able to escape that stench.

They did it to themselves and they deserve it.

And Pats fans will forever need to live with it.

Double B jumping out of the stadium. Humm I don't think so. Geno got no hops and he's just not that good to begin with. He has no talent to work with and then we have that little issue with that thing bewteen his ears.

On the bright side he's smart enough that he could spell C-A-T if you spotted him the C and the T.

One of the best lines in NFL history and the guy they were talking about won 4 rings.

I'd point out that the "tgg experts" have won the exact same number of titles as the "NY Jets front office personnel and coaching staffs and players" over the last 40 years.

A leap to serviceable on a consistent basis.

I'm not expecting Geno to ever become what others would call a good QB. But he has shown flashes of more than solid play. Following up that solid play has always been his problem though for whatever reason.

To make a leap this season he should show that he can move the ball consistently and keep the turnovers at a low number.

Learn to read, clown. Flip out? You're the only that has flipped out, shouted (all caps), and escalated the conversation. I know it's probably beyond your level of comprehension, but it is possible to agree with a poster in one post, and then disagree with him in another, or to agree with one aspect of what he says in a post, but disagree with something else. It's obvious that you take it personally if someone dares to disagree with your great wisdom. YOU'RE the one with the problem, and I will gladly put you on ignore. You're not worth my time.
