People keep forgetting our rookies and second year players with upside, Williams could be special. Coples is another player that could do very well if we moved him back to the DL. Snacks ain't bad either.
good post. i don't believe they are the same player either. Mo and Rich are both beasts in their own way. I'd re-sign Mo now as long as the numbers are comparable to Jordan and Campbell. the casualty will probably be Coples and Snacks, as you pointed out. maybe Coples could even be traded next offseason. I'd hate losing them as well, but Mo is by far a bigger impact player. as far as that 4 man front, i expect we will be seeing a good amount of it. certainly in subpackages, and maybe even more often than that. think Mo would still play End in that front tho..
They aren't Mo though. Leonard Williams, was the best player in the draft - but still need to see how he plays on the field before I crown him. I would rather keep Mo, then to have Coples and Snacks. The potential of having Wilkerson, Richardson and Williams outweighs anything Coples and Snacks could bring to this team IMO. I am a huge fan of Coples too.
Snacks and Coples are replaceable IMO. 3rd down, you can put Wilkerson, Sheldon and Williams virtually anywhere on that D-Line - you have the flexibility to create whatever match-up you want. That's the beauty of Wilkerson's versatility. He's going to make Sheldon and Williams look like the best defensive players in the NFL, Wilkerson has no issue sharing the spotlight.
I think Snacks is very under-rated here and around the league. Without him there is literally a huge hole in the middle of our defensive line. Last year no one ran up the guy against our defense. If Snacks signs elsewhere and Harris retires things could go from bad to worse.
That's why you run more 4 man fronts instead of 3. Everyone on defense is good against the run on the defensive line. Even so, Snacks - replaceable, underrated but replaceable. Depending on the #s, I am not overpaying for Snacks. Line-backing corps needs revamping as well.
Snacks is a really good run stuffer but there's a reason no team bothered to put up an offer sheet against his second round tender, he gets close to no push up the middle
I'm still not sold that without Harrison it's as dire as you say. With Leonard, Mo and Sheldon in that situation we should be fine. He becomes disposable in that situation. If Jets need to choose between Mo and Harrison+Coples, I think it's a tough question.
He's not trying to collapse the pocket. Part of why he's so good against the run is that after the snap he doesn't move up or down the field, he holds his ground, locks with the center and then just tosses him aside to make the tackle for no gain. Ellis was more of a penetrating DT, he'd always try to shoot the gap or bullrush his way to the QB and make plays in the backfield. But as a run stuffer you can't do that because you take yourself out of the play.
I know he's not trying to collapse the pocket, it's not in his skill set. I have no problem with the way he plays because it compliments the other players on the line, but he's one dimensional and that kind of DT production is not hard to replace when you are flanked by all pro caliber linemen I like Snacks but he is the most replaceable player on the Dline and it's why no team felt he was valuable enough to give a 2nd round pick up for him
"Last week he told me he was going to show up. From what I know, he's going to be there." -Sheldon on Mo attending minicamp
if anything hell be there for training camp. holding out does literally nothing for Mo in his situation.
I have no reading problem. I also have no problem remembering what certain posters have to say in a thread, or what their general attitude is like and how they respond to people who disagree with them. I've been watching the NFL and the Jets for over 50 years as well. The difference is that you have become embittered and frequently spew your venom and negativity on this board. You're the one who started calling posters who disagree with you fools. I truly feel sorry for you and the people in your life that have to deal with you and your venom all the time. I hope that you will get some professional help to deal with that bitterness and anger.
I have never called a poster a fool. That is an undadulterated lie. If you feel compelled to indulge in personal attacks because someone offers some criticism that betrays a weakness in character. I never insult other posters. And i am frankly amazed that moderators allow people to hurl such insulting personal comments at other posters on this board. I thought his blog operated on a higher plain.
