My bad, just merge me to back end of this thread http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/im-getting-worried-about-mo.84238/page-12
5 yrs 60M ... 33M guaranteed. A little over 11M / yr. Give Mo the same deal. This could help the Jets.
Yep, agreed completely. It's about on par for what he deserves. Jordan's even a more productive pass rusher and that's what makes the big money in this league. Run stuffers very rarely get high value contracts and for good reason. This is a passing league. When Wilk comes out with his own JJ Watt 20 sack/10+ PD season and equally dominant run stuffing he can talk Watt money.
Jets have all the "hand" on this one--this is the price Mo is paying for taking off plays--so be it. No need to extend him now IMO.
What makes you think he took plays off? You do know he was injured last year right? How long was he injured? Do we really know? Do we believe injury has an impact on the field in regards to performance?
Gitting kinda tired of this. Two different front offices didn't want to pay Mo. Maccagnan has shown he will spend the money. Mo is not JJ Watt and doesn't deserve to be paid that way. I hate it when all these deals "set" the market. Good teams know when someone isn't worth what they're asking. If he doesn't like what they're offering then trade him. I don't have the actual proof at hand but it's common knowledge that other nfl'ers have remarked on this. I tried a quick google but couldn't find the reference. Maybe another poster can supply.
Let's see him produce a second 10 sack season first. Especially since...idk... He's already under contract!
The only time I have heard this was one mic'd up play where a back ran to the opposite side of the line and some Miami TE tried to call him out, if you have other examples please provide them, I'm guessing there aren't any others
If that was the case where it was remarked "an all-pro doesn't take plays off" then that is the one. You disagree with the assessment I take it?
Right or wrong, I think he has a rep for taking plays off--the same isn't said about guys like Harris, Revis, etc.
Where is this "rep" coming from? I've never heard anything about this aside from people on an internet forum overreacting to one play. I've never seen quotes from any players or anything like that. So unless you can provide anything in that respect I'm calling BS
It's called watching him play. He never pursues from the opposite side. Watch him closely then watch Richardson for example and tell us they both give the same effort on each play.
This isn't true. Maybe you're thinking about Coples, who is said to have a motor problem. Wilk has a great motor, IMO. I mean he doesn't care as much as Richardson, but no one cares as much as Richardson (see: Vikings game).
This is the first I've heard of Mo "taking plays off". Regardless, Jets have all the leverage. No reason to pay him til after the season.
Ok--fair enough---I don't have evidence beyond that incident but I can infer the reason he is having his current extension issue is because that one incident is not an isolated one. If he was motoring the whole game and took it easy one play, would this nfl'er make the comment? I can't find the reference but it was published--I don't think it was merely a sound bite from one play in a game. I could be wrong about the rep--I have no special knowledge about it.
