I doubt he makes the team, but with a strong camp (if he lasts that long) he could probably fight for a spot on the practice squad. I don't see too many other options at WR that are PS worthy. "Rumph was one of the 24 tryout players who attended the Jets' rookie minicamp last month. He fills the 90-man roster vacancy created last week when the Jets cut quarterback Matt Simms, after he asked to be released." http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/06/jets_sign_wide_receiver_jonathon_rumph.html
Mac has a way of finding guys always on the mend. With this guy's hammy issues, he's a longshot to make it thru the summer let alone the final 53.
If he lives up to the hype, then we need him. We need every good to great player we can get, no matter what the position.
Question is, at what point do the BPA and 'need' lines intersect relative to the perceived value of the player in question? That is, what level of "can't miss" or 'value' does the player have to possess for the BPA card to all but trump the 'need' card? - QBs? Winston like him or not,, wasn't going to be available. FSU to TB was a perfect fit. - Marcus was a pipe dream: Titans weren't sold on their 2014 5th rounder nor should they have been. - WR: Cooper? Great pick but he wasn't there. Raiders wanted a pro-ready weapon for their kid QB. - OLB: Fowler? Another great pick but he also wasn't there. So then what? Mac states that OL talent can grabbed in the middle rounds - so much for Scherff. Besides was he really worth a #5 vis-a-vis a Leonard Williams staring you in the face and falling in your lap at #6? Imho, not even close. When you're looking at not only the best talent in the draft but one who dominated at a top-flight level and at the ripe old age of 20 no less, you jump on it and don't look back. That was good money just sitting on the table, representing overwhelming value trumping need.
True, but it might come down to: A) Mohammed Wilkerson -or- B) Leonard Williams (with an extra $50M in cap space over the next 4 yrs)
