Today, my soccer team Galatasaray became the Turkish League Champion. Pretty awesome day and wanted to share my excitement with my Jet brothers. Below picture is from yesterday's game which was a derby that we won 2-0. This year, we claimed our 20th championship on the last 59 years of Turkish League since incpetion.

One of my pals is a Fenerbahce supporter. Are they still on UEFA suspension because their owners an arms dealer? It has been a few years.....

    Hi TN

    Thanks.

A little bit background information. In Turkish League, for every 5 championships, you are awarded a star tu put on your jersey. This year two teams in Turkish league had 19 championships. Us and Fenerbahce(mothercuking cheaters who are worse than Patriots. Just google "Fenerbahce match fixing" and you will see).

So between my team, Galatasaray and the other team, whoever won the championship would be awarded the 4th star on the jersey. Both teams had 3 stars due to 19 championships.

One would say yesterday's show was stupid because if we lost yesterday the other team would be champions. So our spectators took the risk and created an ambiance as if we won the championship and got the 4th star.

    That's about it.

No they aren't anymore because Turkish President is a Fenerbahce fan and he bribed UEFA so that they would play only after 2 year suspension. Their owner is worse than Kraft. Arms dealer and match fixer. He paid tons of opponents off so they could lose against his team Fenerbahce.

Yeah. Turkish firms definately have a reputation, don't they. If Man City were to play a qualifier there I would probably pass.

I'm going to check out the Taiwan national team in a few weeks we play Thailand and Indonesia here in Taipei for the 1st two games of Round 2 in AFC WC qualifying but apparently the best player on the team is a Turk named Onur Dogan but translated in Chinese as 朱恩樂 or Chu En-Le. He married a Taiwanese woman and after playing in the 3rd division in Turkey moved to Taiwan and now changed his citizenship. He probably never coul play for the Turkish team but Taiwan sucks so he is a star on the team here.

    Of course it does. :)

We played you early 1990's in a European Cup. Don't remember if it was Champs League elimination round or if it was UEFA Cup. Did I pass the test? :)

1993 European cup before it became the champions league. We lost 2 1 in Turkey which was some result for a part time Irish side to get. Ye beat us 1 0 here after we created and missed some chances. That was some gala team that played that day, kubilay (scored) tudgay and the brilliant hakan suker to name but a few. Ye beat Man Utd in the next round.
It's games like that which we will never see here again which makes me hate the champions league set up. We drew 1 1 here with Bayern Munich in 1991 but those games can never happen again. I was at those games and I still go every Friday night but UEFA shafted the small clubs when they went to the cl and El formats

I hear you man. I also won't forget those games. When we knocked down Man Unt, UEFA went ahead and changed the format of the elimination so similar things wouldn't happen in future years.

Not sure if you remember but we went up ahead 3-2 against Man Unt in Manchester and finished the game 3-3. The next game was in Istanbul and it was a 0-0 tie. We abused Eric Cantona so much, he was thrown out of the game.

Next round we were drawn with Barcelona, Spartak Moscow and AS Monaco. We only finished the group with 2 points but what a year it was. Next year we beat Barcelona in Istanbul 2-1 and whole city went crazy.

Soccer is passion man. Soccer is pure idiocy. You become one with your team. What else could make me shed tears of joy back in 2000 when we won UEFA Cup against Arsenal and the great Arsene Wenger.

I knew it was in Istanbul, I just wasn't sure of you guys ever played at Ataturk or not as your home ground.

BTW found a Turkish place in Taipei, will have to check it out. It's a tad pricey (as most Middle Eastern/Med food is here)
