And it was a ridiculously dumb trade. We wasted how much cap space on the guy? He was overpaid. It was a knee jerk reaction. He started the season off by neutering the team, then when we go 1-6 and are arguably one of the worst teams in the league, everyone starts point out how us sucking so bad is the result of Idzik not spending all that extra cap space. The dude has no balls. THAT'S why we sucked last season.
It was a good move. Percy was an impact player. Something we didn't have and at times he played well. He gave up minimal compensation and Harvin had no guaranteed money left on his Seattlle deal after 2014. It was worth taking a chance. He had plenty of cap space to play around with.
I can't believe there are actually Idzik defenders. Anyone can clear cap space if that's their only aim, but he couldn't pick talent to save his job.
That's a ridiculous statement that anyone can clear cap space. Not if you have restrictive contracts or the kind Tannenbaum stuck the team with. It's a lot easier to spend the money unwisely (which is exactly what are fans wanted to do). As for not evaluating talent tell that to Sheldon a guy 12 other teams passed over. If Idzik had taken someone else not as good the haters would have another arrow to shoot at him.
Actually you just supported his point. None of the contract Tanny left Idzik with were restrictive. They screwed our cap the year prior but all the guaranteed money was off the books. All Idzik had to do was cut the players. Anyone CAN do that and that is all Idzik did -- execute the cuts Tanny's contracts made possible. Idzik didn't create the contracts that provided the cap space.
Clearing cap space is not an easy task. If you think so you don't know what you're talking about. It's not just simply cutting guys.
Yes it is when the player's salaries that you cut are not guaranteed and come off your cap. If you don't know that you don't know what you are talking about.
I know nothing about cap economics and math and either do you. How can you be so simplistic. So you actually think you can do it. Give me a break.
The player's Idzik cut had contracts whose cap ramifications were publicly known. You don't need to be an expert on cap economics to understand that if player x has a non guaranteed salary of $10 million and you cut him you eliminate $10 million from your cap. That's not simplistic it's fact. If that's too complicated for you that doesn't reflect anything about anyone else's ability to understand all that Idzik did.
You don't know what you're talking about. If anyone can do it then they don't need capologists. You just refuse to give Idzik credit for anything.
Idzik was his own undoing. Dont say he got shafted, he did not. He was good with the cap, but terrible at everything else.
It will be interesting to see how Idzik's Jet's "legacy" changes over the years. If Geno actually turns into a decent QB and his draft picks bear more fruit, he might be remembered better. But wow, there is a man that was not cut out to be GM of a big city team.
That's as dumbfuck a statement that has ever been uttered here. there is more to managing a cap then just cutting players without guaranteed money, which is why it takes skilled GM's who can not only cut players without guaranteed money but also sign contracts with guaranteed money that keeps the team in a healthy position to continuously add and subtract players. Anyone can cut players without guaranteed money and that is what Idzik did to create the cap space he did.
You've basically proven you're an idiot. I don't have to say anything else. Contracts and cutting guys is a heck of a lot more complicated than that.
No, you're the idiot if that is what you think I said. I just stated the complete opposite of your reply. It takes a special kind of stupid to claim my argument is the complete opposite of what was clearly written.
Again you don't what the fuck you're talking about. Just some additional Idzik bashing. He was just hired by the Jags who said he's an expert on cap management. But I guess you know more than they do.
