No one that was/is a full or time part time starter is going to get cut before training camp and/or preseason. The CS will do due diligence before determining which 53 players will provide us the best probability of success. I don't envision Pace going anywhere this year, particularly In light of such lack of outside speed rushers, but I do hope his role is reduced and Maulding shows us plenty as the future starter in 2016.
Totally agree - Pace has done well over the past few seasons - possibly may play better now we have a decent secondary and even better DL so he can get to the QB. Only thing I don't like is that too often he fails to set the edge on run plays and gets burned with the opposition getting a HUGE play on the ground. Babin on the other hand is my most likely candidate to be cut this off season
I think you keep guys who have played in the NFL until someone else proves he can handle it. There's the injury factor: most rookies have some injury that keeps them from starting every game (ok, I've done no research). So, I'd be wary of placing all eggs in rookie baskets, especially with a very physical position like OLB in a 3-4.
Yes this makes so much sense. I couldn't believe Pace was resigned. His best days were 4 years ago but Rex kept him around and he was always 3 steps late to every play.
Pace isn't any good either. I would rather go with the young guy. Pace would just be taking up a roster spot.
Why do other Jet fans not want us to have nice things? Pace and Babin have already been paid bonuses this year, they still have some gas left in the tank and we did not bring in young players capable of replacing them. For a lousy million or two each I would rather have them than some UDFA that does not know how to play the position.
>He was a 3rd round pick. >Hell he could bust Vernon style Nah, he can't bust Vernon style. He can't even bust "Stephen Hill style". At worst he's Jalen Saunders.
What bonus? The 100 or 200k? I think we spend more on lost footballs. Pace has got to go. He's awful.
Players reported to camp on July 23 last year so you're looking at about 2 months. You could always take your mind off it by watching water boil
Yea he had 10 the year before so did Wilk,Him and Wilkerson both had 5 sacks last year but for some reason we should cut one guy who had 5 sacks and pay the other 30 million for his 5 sacks.I Know Wilkerson is top knotch as a run stopper but he really needs to get more production when it comes to sacking the QB.....If he wants that big contract
Pace is a role player esp at his age. Same with Babin. Wilk is a ten year starter and an All Pro. It's not all about sacks but the five was unimpressive, you're right about that.
Wilkerson is great all around I just wish he was more dominant when it comes to getting to the QB.And it is all about sacks sometimes,Those plays change the complexion of the entire game on so many levels. You see what happens to Brady if you start getting to him
