Sorry to all the "start Simms" crowd. He was done the day the team drafted Petty IMO, though I'm surprised they kept Heaps over him. Figured Simms would make it to training camp at least. @NYJets: We have released QB Matt Simms- http://t.co/6L5pd0HR3Z http://t.co/Wadw7FVtkj
I was wondering where simms was when they signed Heaps, they said 'we need someone to throw the ball' - I mean, he seemed like an obvious choice over an undrafted quarterback, no? This tells me they are happy with what they've seen in Petty so far, no more no less.
Classy move by the Front Office to give him a chance to sign elsewhere before training camp. He was redundant with Petty here, already the project QB
So much for his being given an opportunity somewhere along the line. Then again, maybe they had already seen enough to know that he was never going to be a factor here, and ARE giving him that opportunity, just somewhere else.
I wish Simms all the best. As long as he stays out of the AFC East I hope he makes our coaches regret cutting him loose.
hm, this was coming one way or another, DIDN'T expect it till august, especially not before Heaps or whoever is wearing number 3.
Look Simms never got a chance to start so it's very cavalier of some of you to put the guy down when he never got a shot. The same people who said don't even give Tebow a tryout he's horrible meanwhile giving all the reps in practice and all the starts to terrible Qbs like Mark and Geno. It's doubtful that if Simms had 30 starts he wouldn't have been better than Geno. We won't know. But I think he'll have a team and a better shot at making an active roster than here. Didn't Mac re-sign him months ago which I assume cost them some money.
It's very possible that's true. But he was good enough to make the roster and was no. 2 Qb in 2014. It's just hard to believe if he had a chance to play he would have been worse than Sanchez or Geno. Those guys got starts and we know they were bad.
