Sweet. It was a somewhat long commute to midtown, but I really liked that neighborhood. It was interesting in that according to the city of New York, it was considered Manhattan, but according to the US Postal Service and UPS, it was the Bronx. Evidently at some point in history (I heard two conflicting stories and dates), the Army Corps of Engineers rerouted the Harlem River away from Spuyten Duyvil, and when they did, it separated that neighborhood from the rest of Manhattan. Do you know the real story?
Ha, that's a good one. I used to know, but have forgotten. I remember reading about it or seeing somewhere, maybe in school, but just can't remember. For some reason I think the bridge had something to do with it. Maybe connecting Marble Hill to Manhattan when it was possibly surrounded by wet lands.. But I don't know, oh well. The geography around there is interesting: some high points and low lands, just like the pic of the Polo Grounds. The wetlands from the Harlem River went all the up into the Van Cortlandt Park area. And across the Harlem R. in Inwood, across from Columbia Rock, is a low land, it was all swampy down in those areas originally. We used to go down there along the tracks and Climb Columbia Rock when we were kids. Anyway, that was a long time ago, lol. Enough of that, lol.
Thanks to my co workers stupidity I won tons of money on that game as I bet every one straight up so I got huge odds. That was a once in a lifetime killing

My mind is officially blown. I just googled Coogan's Bluff and in Wikipedia learned that the Polo Grounds were in that area in Washington Heights! I thought they were closer to Yankee Stadium and in the Bronx. I have been in that area and walked up and down either the Bushman Steps or the John T. Brush Stairway or both, but didn't realize at first where that was, but I do remember seeing a plaque now saying that was the site of the Polo Grounds. I met someone who lived there and visited a couple of times and had totally forgotten about it.

Yeah especially once the thread is several pages long, people are looking at the last posts before they look at the first one lol I doubt this rates on a top ten but the first real good Jet moment I remember was Allegre's tying and winning FG's in OT to put the Jets in the playoffs at the Fish's expense.

Yes, he hit Maynard deep for a big gainer late in the game in the swirling winds at Shea that led to a late come from behind victory. The AFL Championship Game. I don't believe that game is available anywhere for viewing? I'd love to watch it
No that was I think the year later. This was when we made the playoffs at 8-8 with Coslet beating them down there the last game of the season.
