We'd like to think that every fan base has good fans, bad fans & wacky fans. Dark siders & blindly lead homers.New England should be no exception But living in New England & having in laws whom are huge Patriots/All Boston teams..I experience their demeanor on a daily basis. Literally since 2007..when all the "Patriots cheating" stuff amassed..I haven't heard a single Patriot fan concede to even miniscule bouts of wrongdoing. Literally not a single one. You would think somewhere down the line respect for the game & integrity would outweigh one's own rooting interest. I realize no one wants to see their team's success tainted..but this is other worldly. What they don't realize is that this "hate" & "bias" they think exists surrounding their team is actually being created by their OWN delusional self serving meltdown. Reasonable & prudent parties can likely all agree that deflating footballs likely isn't gonna affect a game's outcome. The 25k fine in the rule book seems fitting.But it was the Patty cakes media relations; Their shear arrogance that seeped from everyone from their fan base, local figureheads, former players,current players & of course their lovely owner is what has them in this predicament. The hate is only gonna get worse. And though no real bias truly exists beyond inner fan circles..the "threat" or idea of one is gonna continue to matriculate the more their denial grows. Maybe they didn't cheat. Maybe it was just gamesmanship & stretching the rules for a minor advantage. But you can't lie to the national media during super bowl week, not cooperate w/ the independent investigation,blatantly LIE during the investigation, with-hold crucial evidence & then bash the entire league's credibility when a report comes out that isn't favorable.ESPECIALLY when you have a rich prior history of suspected fowl play that includes the worst sanction ever handed down by the league. The Patriots media relations for deflategate has been a DISASTER. That's what is costing them draft picks, credibility, capital & their pride. They could've gotten off for a measily fine & a public apology w/ even the slightest fragment of humility. Instead football fans everywhere will continue to pile in..and rightfully so. Meanwhile Patriot fans will keep drawing up tall tale conspiracy theories.
