Had John Stone been there, would've been a different story - 200 dead and 1 arrest. If he could single-handedly take down 'The Brotherhood,' these Waco chumps would've been child's play for Stone.
Listen, we have different views on the state of America. If you believe race isn't a factor then well I don't know what to tell you. I understand you want all the evidence and all that other shit, but the fact remains those bikers - they were sitting on the sidewalk smoking cigs and acting as if nothing happened. You do realize 9 people died right? Worse then any freaking riot - why did the riot get so much more attention then a bunch of bikers shooting and killing? Sometimes you need to formulate your own opinion. You do it with Football, but it appears you don't do it w/ real life situations.
Everything is not about race, some folks try to make it about race. the riots got more attention b/c it was perceived as a racial incident even though half the officers involved(including the ones w/ most serious charges) are black but to you and others it's the bad white cop picking on the poor black folks again. I don't know all the details but based on that photo I see people sitting calmly not attacking police , not running from the police and not resisting arrest. Does that not make a difference? it's just all the evil racist cops and racist America! b/c, as we know, only white people can be racist. I formulate al of my own opinions, folks like YOU are taking the perceptions of others and using them as your opinions. You fall prey to media hype and don't look at the facts.
I understand there are racial issues that need to be resolved but it comes from all sides and by throwing out the race stuff w/ EVERY incident in a negative light toward white people it does not help any situation or help race relations.
LOL media hype? Really? I don't watch CNN or Fox News - I am well aware they are trying to fabricate shit; but it's plain to see what is going out there; those people at the end of the day didn't deserve to be gunned down. All is not fair and equal in this world. I formulate my own opinions on EVERYTHING, so don't try and tell me I am some zombie of the media. The riots should NOT get more attention then 9 dead people during a biker / police shootout.
Who said EVERY incident? Look who has reading comprehension issues now - no one is attacking white people. maybe you have some guilt in you, but again no one is attacking white people. I believe everyone should be treated fairly via the Justice System, but that system has failed us time and time again.
se guys deserved to be gunned down or killed in whatever way they were, all I ever asked was for us to wait for all the facts to come out and I discussed the roles of the deceased in their deaths. I did not place blame on them but fleeing from police, resisting arrest or attacking officers set the wheels in motion to end their lives. That doesn't mean I believe the officers are innocent, some I think are and others I don't believe they are but that could change either way based on more facts coming out while you guys have all formed your opinions w/ no wiggle room. Of course the riots should get more attention, a city was being destroyed, lives were in danger. It should never have gotten to that point if people obeyed the law and saw what actually happened. It was portrayed as evil, racist white cops killing another innocent black man again. The reality is it was black cops doing it and the man was a criminal. The shootout in Texas was under control pretty quickly as far as I know. did it go on for days like Baltimore?
Let me get this straight, 9 people were killed, 18 were injured in MEANINGLESS gun action deserves less attention then some broken windows, 0 dead / minimal injury and people acting out? OK.
it got plenty of attention, more than gang related violence in other cities, more than all the dead officers have recently gotten. It deserves attention but what happened there was under control relatively quickly, the stuff in Baltimore was going on for many days and spread to different Cities. all the people hurt in Baltimore was just "people acting out"? please stop. Both deserve attention and both got/are getting attention.
The only reason it doesn't get the attention is there's no racial component. The media loves to stoke that flame. If it were a bunch of blacks killed it would be all over the news and there would also probably be a bunch of paid rioters flooding the streets.
You asked the right question but you don't seem interested in thinking about the answer. Why is it that the media covers a racially charged event like the riots but not a racially charged event like this shootout? The answer doesn't reflect an issue of race in this country but the issue of race the media wants to promote for their own gain. You seem to want want to take the deliberate actions of the media and apply it to the viewpoints of people. That's ridiculous. During the Michael Brown coverage there was a poll that claimed 70% of the people didn't believe racism was prevalent in this country, and the media commentary on that was that those people were racist for not caring about the perception of racism by blacks or simply in denial, as opposed to another possibility that 70% of people in the U.S. aren't racist and they were merely projecting that belief. If that the case, racism isn't a widespread problem if 70% aren't racists, at a minimum. But the media wants you to believe it is a widespread problem.
Yeah, that's the unfortunate thing about it. I've said it before, and I will say it again, perception is reality. All I look for is for the justice system to be equal and fair - I don't see it that way right now. It doesn't address the issue of gun control, police control and a corrupt justice system. Aren't these 3 big issues in America today outside of Race? America is named the greatest threat to World Peace, by other countries. I don't put much into polls to be honest, I see the perception out here of African Americans. People see riots, but don't see the innocent protests earlier that week, instead they look at the riots and think they are thugs or animals. Then people in the US want to throw every black person in the pot. That is the perception the media puts on Black people and everyone seems to eat that up. But I have no answers, I just have to keep doing what I am doing. I will always have 1 eye open though. I know people of many cultures and colors - I will always judge someone by the content of their character.
The killings are one thing, but the KKK is still present to this day. Is there really not a race problem?
The question is why do the rioters riot instead of protest peacefully? And is it the medias intent to fuel that behavior?
There were peaceful protestors throughout the week, prior to the riots. Peaceful protests happen in this country all of the time. That wasn't on the news, sometimes, I feel the media's intent is to create a negative perception, and the rioters didn't help that perception obviously. The riots did fuck things up, I agree, and it was 110% wrong - people just want to see the world burn.
