lmao - no one is shelling out huge money for Eli Manning. Check out the situation with the Seahawks right now with Wilson.
Yeah I agree No team is shelling out 15-20 mil next year for Eli. I cant believe hes been paid 20 mil each of the last 3 years. However if the Giants are ready to move on I could see a team like Cincinnati or Arizona paying like 10-12 mil a year. As much as I can't stand the mouth-breather he's still at worst a mid level NFL starter. By mid level I mean top 12-18 in the league. As for our cap situation Next Year we're really kinda screwed. Sure we can free up some $ by making tough choices and cutting guys like Brick Saves 9 mil but we still eat another 5 mil Marshall 8.1 mil Cro 8mil Coples 7.75 mil Cumberland 1.9 mil And the Jets have a few big name free agents like Mo, Snacks & D.Davis. Those 3 guys are gonna cost a lot. plus at some point Richardson will need to get paid. Some tough choices are gonna have to be made.
The point I was making is that we can not count on paying our QB next to nothing in the future. Through free agency, trade, or the draft we will have the opportunity to obtain (or keep) a starting caliber QB and I do not want to pass up that opportunity because we blew $60 million of cap space on the DL.
I really am nervous about Wilkerson im not so sure if he is gonna be a Jet this year,I mean he still has one year left on his deal and its his biggest payday so far so hopefully if we don't trade him he shows up
I generally see your point and don't disagree at all. But snacks is arguably an all pro and the best run stuffing NT in the league. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This. While it sucks having a young QB like Geno, it's great having $$$$'s for guys like Wilk Richarson Revis Cro and now Williams
I think the Jets could find another Snacks via the draft, but it would be tough to find another Wilkerson. Wilkerson IS all-pro.
That's funny because he was a second round RFA tender and not a single team put an offer sheet in for him. You would think that an all pro would be worthy of a second round draft pick
If and when the Jets find themselves in position to pay a QB worthy of a top contract, they can make the hard decision about the Big 3 players on the DL. You just don't cut your leg off because you read an article about bionic limbs
Not showing up won't help Wilkerson get paid. The only way Wilkerson isn't on the field in September is if some other team absolutely blows the Jets away with an insane trade offer.
It may not help him get paid but it does remove the chances of him tearing his knee apart during a two hand touch practice at a voluntary OTA while on his rookie contract
I think Snacks has a better shot to stay than Mo. Demario Davis on the other hand could be a gonner next year.
Disagree, but I digress. I don't see how Demario Davis could be a goner next year. I doubt he'll break bank.
As much as people have been down on Coples, I'm underwhelmed with Demario Davis. I guess he's ok. But not a lot of impact plays that I can remember. I know the secondary was ridiculous and that Harris makes a lot of run stops, I just didn't see much that I remember about his play. So, yeah, he has a lot to prove--to me, anyway--before I'm like "ok let's re-up him cause he's been adequate". I want to see some star quality play from him now that the secondary has been fixed.
