I don't think Matt Simms sucks, have you watched him in preseason? I mean, yeah he's a 3rd stringer, but as that he's pretty decent.
Matt Simms is lucky to have stuck on an NFL roster as long as he did. His last name had a lot to do with that. We'll see how the rest of the NFL views him this fall when he's cut. And no he's no going to be on the roster nor practice squad here. Petty sealed his fate.
Bowles doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would let his OC make the statement for the team--I just don't see the data that would lead to a rational decision that GS should start hands down. I am as sure as I can be that I have watched more jets football over 2 years than Gailey and I think it was an irresponsible remark and not one based on data.
I think that's why Gailey has stayed away from the press too. This is one interview that should have never been granted. Gailey and Bowles never worked together before now and add to that, Gailey has been out of football for the last 2 years. Time to panic? No. Is this disturbing? On some level yes as it shows some miscommunication between the HC and the OC. HC says there's gonna be competition. OC says no..
I'm taking this with a grain of salt. But all this says to me is that he's progressing and he's grasping the offense better than Gailey anticipated. If you are a fan that should be cause for cautious optimism I do believe once camp starts there will be a competition.
Easier said than done. Nobody is going to trade us a starting worthy player. Idzik messed up last year not taking a draft worthy QB and no Boyd was not draft worthy.
I wasn't luck that Simms kicked Boyd's ass off the roster last year. The kid won't go down without a fight.
You don't think Bowles and Gailey would have talked this over? Bowles doesn't seem to be the type to let something like this happen. They very likely both agreed on this.
coordinators are required to be made available ever so often, all the coordinators had their pressers today for the nyj. its been scheduled since the ota schedule was made up. i don't think gailey went in there and said anything that made bowles raise his eyebrows.
Not saying much at all Boyd shouldn't have been drafted. Simms deserves his PS spot he earned that once he got into the league. His name got him in but he's stuck around on his own.
Doubletalk has been elevated to an art form in this organization. First there was gonna be a QB competition. Now there's not. At least they won't put on a fake one like last year.
