What are you talking about? You mentioned drew brees in a trade scenario. Then you mentioned free agency. He's not a free agent until 2017?
Quinn got 6 years 66 million...I think that's a perfect price for Mo so if he wants that money then give it to him
the revis comparison is completely off base. Revis was LOCKDOWN and we had nobody behind him to truly replace him or even do an adequate job for that matter. The situation with depth is not the same for Mo (pending the output of Leonard Williams)
We haven't had a coverage linebacker since he left. No doubt in my mind, Rex would have found a way to make it work.
solid first post. welcome aboard. i highly doubt he would pull a joey galloway. reason being, if he tried, all the jets have to do is deactivate him for one of those six games, and he loses credit for the year. that makes it not in his best interest to take that approach. i dont think its been distasteful YET, but its definitely heading down that path. so far both sides have been relatively quiet and respectful of each other during this. also, mo does deserve a raise, and i would like to keep him here long term. i would love to know how far apart both sides are at this point, but i havent really seen anything concrete on what the jets have offered, if anything, and what mo is actually looking for.
bc of the vague statements on the jets side and the fact that mo hasnt shown up to anything yet this year as far as i have seen. to me, its reading like that if things dont pick up by the time camp nears, things might get a bit uglier and we might see some mudslinging. just my opinion based on the limited info we have on this situation at this point. i could, and hope, im wrong and they work this out.
Charlie Kelly, pretend for a moment that you are not a special kind of douche-bag. (Please, insert you unoriginal come-back below. And be sure to include a few common lowest denominator personal insults as well. I expect nothing less.) Oh, by the way, the next time you make an insightful football comment will be the first. Carry on.
I know I'm beating a dead horse here.... but I'm pretty irritated that we gave Harris 7.5M when that money could have gone towards wilkerson. combine that to the 6M we are paying him and thats 13M per season, something I think is closer to what Mo is looking for. we could have then gotten someone like Rolondo McClain or Brandon spikes for 2-M per season. But what is done is done i guess. I think mo has to either be Kept, traded for a first round pick+, or we need to get a player 25 and under who is a very good starter at a position of need(LT, OG, ILB, QB)
This is not the time to extend Mo. Don't get me wrong, I love him as a player. But, you don't extend him now. Let him play out this season. Negotiate with him after the season. If you can't reach a deal, franchise him. See what he, Richardson and Williams do over the next two seasons. Decide in 2017 which two you want to keep. Absolutely no need to extend Mo right now. He is under contract.
you realize Spikes was literally just signed by NE this week right? so the guy you think is somehow comparable to Harris sat on the market all this time, only to settle for a minimal deal, while Harris had multiple suitors seriously inquiring before FA even began. but yeah, they are comparable talents.... McClain is a headcase, who for awhile there had more arrests than sacks. he's also quit on multiple teams. that's why he could be had for less than 4M (in Dallas 4-3 scheme). i'm sure there would be no dropoff in leadership there. there is still room to re-sign Mo.
