Actually his protection from Goodell was bargained away.

My suspicion is that the fancy lawyering will drag this out past the Thursday night opener. See my previous a couple posts back for the timing.

The odd part about that is if you want to take it literally, he delegated authority that only he has to Troy Vincent

Don't think that isn't going to be an issue.

Trust me I thought it would be an issue a week ago and also thought it might be on purpose

It just goes to prove that once an idiot pat fan always an idiot pat fan. No matter what happens they search and search looking for a different spin on their cheating team.

    Sort of.

    I think Goodell has them.

    Parse with me here...(Dierking?)

Neither BOLD nor underlined has happened.

And yes, while that might not be the intent of the language, res ipsa loquitur...

ANY action taken by the Commissioner against the player will be the first and will be what is determined at the appeal.

If you believe that you believe the union has a way of getting an injunction and that certainly doesn't seem to be the case.

Well, either the NFL reduces Brady's suspension and Brady agrees to it or they go to court. Based on what we've been reading Brady won't accept any penalty.

As in he will get on the field in game 1 despite being suspended?

Wait but this happened at the owners meeting! Never mind that it happened before any of the owners actually met and it was almost as if Kraft was ready to make the announcement as he was getting off his multi million dollar jet, it's OBVIOUS that the other owners got to him!

I hope not. But like another poster said Brady's lawyers could keep this alive for awhile. And you saw what happened with Bountygate.

My guess is still that they will drag this out, until after week one. In return for dropping the suit, Brady takes his two games, the Pats beat Buff after a 10 day layoff then Jax, Brady returns during the week 4 bye with two weeks before their next opponent. Hence the Hugging.

Ray Rices appeal took half a season....

And despite the media hammering home that the NFL lost two decisions in court, there were far differing principles in those appeals. Rice was punished twice for the same thing, and in Petersons case, they retroactively applied a new enhanced penalty for the conduct he was punished for.

    This ain't either of those.

    And...FWIW..neither was bounty gate.

This is cheating, straight up. And even the appearance of cheating (or possible cheating ) to determine the outcome of a game, carries far greater lattitude for discipline in professional sports as a whole.

Ask roid users, or Pete Rose.

Well, the question is can Brady's lawyers stop the NFL from suspending him if it's still in court in Sept. Would that allow Brady to play and not take a suspension until a judge makes a decision. And then serve the suspension if he loses. I guess that's what would happen. Imo Bountygate was worse and deflating balls didn't significantly affect the outcome of games. But it was against the rules and has to be punished. And the penalties are fair.
