Goodell: "Before you start to yell at me Robert, have a seat and let me show you the real evidence that I didn't want to embarrass you with" *Shows Brady in compromising situation* Kraft: "Damn it...I look like a fool out here. Let me go out there and say I will accept everything but drop the word 'reluctantly' in and provide no answers" Goodell: "Understood...Let's be grateful I did not bring the death penalty on the Patriots as we are good friends." Goodell leaves the room. Kraft: "Oh Myra, where are you when I need you?"
So basically admitting that the team will be found guilty if they push the issue, inability for the Commissioner to cover P*ts guilt to the other "31", but ability for commissioner to cover Br*dy bc 'ok, whatever...it's not that bad." depending on the player and wishes of the commissioner different precedents for different players, got it. If br*dy gets reduced penalty the league is run by the P*triots. Guilty
Hey guy, I have been enjoying the raking of Patriots over the coals but let's not fool ourselves, the NFL is kind of a joke in itself.
I enjoyed this but if Brady gets his sentence reduced for whatever reason it's definitely going to look like a deal behind the scenes.
i would be shocked if they didnt at this point. the whole talk about the back channel discussions, the hugging it out, etc etc, leads me to believe they made a deal. my guess, is brady gets 2 instead of 4. doesnt have to turn over any texts or anything as part of the deal. i dont agree with it at all btw, but this just seems to make sense to me. cant see him just laying down without some benefit
I don't think you understand what collective bargaining means. And I am absolutely certain that I don't understand a word of what you just posted.
Kraft laid down as he had no recourse on which to act upon, and a lot of pressure from the other 31 owners. fighting this would have made things worse for him. Goddell, by contrast, has no reason to lay down on the Br*dy suspension. quite the opposite. he'll come off looking weak to both the 31 other owners, and the NFLPA, who would use that as precedent in future disputes. He needs to stand by the Br*dy suspension. the NFLPA has a weak case here.
"Live action!" Best way to spend a Sunday in the fall. P*ts pushed the envelope and all the theatrics has led to this point. Should have admitted some fault and the embarrassment would have been substantially less. Br*dy getting any appeal now is utterly absurd. Kr*ft failure to appeal is admission of guilt. Br*dy should suspended his appeal and end this silly game. Serve the suspension and move on. Can't see Br*dy getting appeal without cooperation. Any thing less than the 4 games is insult to the consumer base. But yeah the kr*ft goodell relationship is a joke, that website was funny that had them lying down on top of each other on a beach, there are at least 4 Super Bowls that involved cheating to win, it's funny how the suspension process works in the NFL and regarding certain players and teams... The league is compromised.
I hope they are treated like two completely seperate actions and that one doesn't have any bearing on the other...I just don't think a person like Kraft, even with no leg to stand on, would just drop it and let it go if he didn't have assurances he would see some benefit. The only outstanding benefit is the status of the Brady appeal that his good buddy Roger happens to have the final word over. I don't know. I hope they uphold the Brady suspension or at least treat it like a seperate thing from this but considering how things have worked in the past and how the Pats have got the benefit of the doubt so often in the past I don't anticipate Roger really sticking to his guns here. I guess we'll find out.
I want more games added for Brady. This has been a career fueled cheater toying with the system. Roger is a bitch though so we must have made a side deal, but if not...I hope Goodell sticks to his guns and goes for the home run with these cheaters
i WANT them to stand by it. oh god, do i want them to. i absolutely despise brady and love this downfall for him and the pats. i just cant for the life of me see how kraft just lays down like that without negotiating SOMETHING favorable for the pats. even if it was just one game. like i just think hes gotta be smarter than that. the only way i can see a full everything standing is if goodell has a crazy smoking gun that we havent seen yet.
I'm not sure the NFLPA understands the collective bargaining principle. As part of the last contract, they agreed to allow Goddell the decision making authority to suspend players for conduct detrimental to the league. I don't see how a federal court would overrule something they collectively agreed upon. so what exactly is their appeals case? the NFL has established precedent on this type of punishment. I don't see them winning simply upon penalty being too 'harsh'. i also don't see them establishing any new evidence, or level of cooperation from Br*dy. hard to claim Wells was biased, with a track record of working as a neutral source for the NFL, and no objection to his leading the investigation prior. so i don't see that being a viable defense. so the only thing i can think of, is they attack the level of proof being insufficient, while Br*dy continues to deny any wrongdoing. but we all know, the NFL constitution only requires more probable than not, or a preponderance of evidence. they have that.. this would hold up in any civil court of law. short of producing new evidence, or level of cooperation, i don't think Br*dy or the NFLPA really has a case here.
You are saying since br*dy is in a union he is protected by the laws of goodell, but since the New England P*triots are not members of the union goodell can't protect said team? I'm saying kr*ft and goodell know that the P*triots are guilty of this crime, which centers around their starting quaterback. If the P*ts don't have the nuts to appeal, as an organization, the crime of their starting quarterback; what fragile ground is the starting quarterback standing on? You are saying by the powers vested by goodell, I think..? Which is silly. The P*ts admitted guilt today, finally. For a crime their starting quarterback committed
yeah man that was exactly my point. like i said in my last post, the only other thing i can think of is theres a smoking gun for the nfl that we havent seen yet. maybe it has to do with the ball boys. maybe it has to do with texts. i totally agree with you. i hope he sticks to his guns too. i just dont believe that kraft is that nice a guy to just say, "ok you win"
I don't think that Kraft capitulated because Roger presented him evidence that he was unaware of. Believe me he knows about all of it. He agreed not to sue the NFL because it was better for Robert Kraft period. The value of his franchise and of the NFL goes down if there is anarchy.
Actually I understand what he is saying with the second comment, JV28's post was bordering on being another language
We all know that smoking gun would be covered up for a certain friend. Commissioner, team P*ts owner client privilege; disgusting.
Kraft fighting it, to defend his ego, only hurts himself further (including his own wallet). what recourse would he have to challenge the ruling? he really didn't have a leg to stand on in this. they were caught, and are repeat offenders. i don't think Goddell was in a position where he needed to negotiate anything. but it's possible he folded, and did so anyway. if he did fold, it will be a very bad look for him. possibly the thing that ends him. the other owners won't like the favoritism, and they won't like the ground indirectly given up to the NFLPA.
