  2. That 5/6th battle is gonna be fun. And the fact that Fitz,Petty,& Simms(The presumed 2nd & 3rd team QBs) all have pretty good arm talent..it could get wild.

I agree w/ those who consider Evans a Wildcard. He has very intriguing physical tools including a great catching radius, movement & some speed over the top.He made some big plays look easy in college & was arguably Brett Hundley's best target while at UCLA. Still, he didn't do much in camp last season before getting injured. You'd love to get that type of speed/size on the Special teams unit...and make no mistake..whoever wins these jobs will need to play ST.Im not sure we've ever seen him on ST even in practice..is he willing to get his hands dirty? That could play a role in whether he makes the team or not.

Enunwa started coming on at the end of camp. You'd have to think w/ his body type that he's in direct competition for a spot w/ Evans as the Jets will likely prefer a smaller shiftier guy for the other spot. That said Enunwa may have some TE ability w/ some added bulk. Also something to consider.

Evans had to return to school to graduate and wqas playing catch up when he arrived. Will be interesting to see who 5 & 6 will be -

Enunwa was raw when drafted from Nebraska but many felt he had a higher ceiling than Evans and is NFL Draft profile noted he was a "big, tough, athletic, West Coast receiver who broke out as a senior. Has a mixture of "Z" and "X" traits and could even be viewed as a developmental H-back prospect."

Owusu ran a 4.36 time at the 40-yard dash, which tied for the second fastest overall. He wasn't selected in the 2012 NFL Draft, possibly due to his history of injuries and concussions. Still he is a burner and had a stand out game Vs Miami [hope it is not a Hill Vs Buffalo situation]

Posey is a project of the new regime so may have a slight advantage at this point.

  4. H back actually works really well in a cold weather setting & the Jets have had success w/ H-back types in the past including Richie Anderson & some say Mickey Shuler.

If you have a real talented one you can create match-up nightmares while doubling as a safety valve & some blocking ability to boot. I've long felt a return to that position would serve the Jets well.

That said I don't think Chan Gailey has an H-back friendly system. I think he wants to play the "spread & isolate" game through the air, while maintaining a healthy dose of a running game.

I have to disagree about Enunwa having a higher ceiling than Evans. Evans has some really smooth movement to go along w/ a very good physique..I don't see that same level of movement w/ Enunwa...Love the size & body control..but he's not in Evans league in terms of fluidity.

I am truly surprised Rex Ryan hasn't convinced the Bills to sign Clyde Gates after Rex gushed about him so much when Gates sucked for the jets. Outside of clock management, recognizing talent was/is Rex's biggest flaw as a coach.

I see. So you think Walter Powell is talented?

agreed on ST being the deciding factor for those last 2 spots.
that's why i like Owusu and Graham, as they showed well as returner and gunner. they also have upside as receivers.

we did see Evans in some limited special teams work before he got hurt.
    he was dropping/fumbling punts.
i honestly thought the IR was just used to redshirt without completely losing him. he wasn't going to make the team.
this regime will have no motivation to keep him around. he's shown no promise yet. that would have to turnaround quite a bit and quickly in order for him to earn a spot imo..

Enunwa at TE is interesting, as we are really weak there.
if that's the case tho, i'd expect another season on the PS to work on that conversion.
Cumberland is terrible, but he may win a spot by default this year.

if you've got a hard on about Powell, just state your case already rather than trolling..

he's a backend roster guy who will have to prove a lot on special teams to have any chance.
not sure why there would be strong feelings either way.

I'm not disagreeing, just am curious why you think the J back works really well in cold weather?

  11. The benefits of an H-back feed right into what works in wind/cold. Trench work, short receptions w/ YAC, & dictating the match-ups w/ all the pre-snap motion.

One thing is for sure. I don't want to hear ANYBODY say that Geno Smith didn't have enough weapons this year.

I love the top 4 of

    Marshall
    Decker
    Kerley
    Smith

There will also be a ton of competition for the final two spots, and I have no idea where its going. Right now I'm going to guess Shaq Evans and Owosu.

I dont think the forum has an over/under till Geno shits the bed even equipped with his new personnel. He may not even start, to Gaillys delight, and we see Fitz out of the gate. Nonetheless, i am sure Mac will add another vet QB in lieu of not starting BPetty

He was actually good, he had tons of yards after catch on screens and short passes over the middle, I thought Marty should've found a way to get him the ball in space more

What I'm reading is half our current WR squad will be starting on some other team this year

Funny because I thought we should have shot him into space with a cannon

Salas, Nelson, Hakim, Gates, Cribbs, TJ Graham.... That is a brutal bunch of scrubs and castoffs.

  20. It became evident after 2011 w/ Banged up & slow Plaxico & erratic Santonio that the Jets needed to rebuild the WR corps. I believe it was referenced by Cimini as part of their offseason "to do" list going into 2012. And look at all the caca we had to sit through before they finally figured it out(Or I should say a completely new regime did).4 years to rebuild a skill group? That's unacceptable.
