The deflating footballs, to me wasn't the huge deal, it was the fact that he lied about it and continued to lie about it. Also, the fact that he's a habitual offender.
Actually if you want to get technical what Aikman did was turn the Cowboys from a joke of a franchise into a 3 time SB winner. Didn't he go 1-15 his rookie year? Don't think the Pats were that bad at anytime post Parcells. 3-0 in SB's never made mistakes, dominated the NFC when there were good teams like San Fran and Washington as well as the Giants just as good as them. He doesn't have the numbers but he often gets overlooked when discussing all time greats. He absolutely deserves to be mentioned.
Otherwise Joe would have won another and another without Rice The Giants were always a thorn in the side of Montana but he didn't need to resort to cheating to beat them the way Brady and Bellichump have against the Ravens
I always love the opinion based as fact about how much better one division or one conference or one defense or one team was SO much better back in the day. It's sophistry. _
Deflating the footballs in one game MIGHT be considered a minor incident. If it was an isolated incident then I MIGHT agree. However for those of us without defending blinders on, it is apparent that this was not an isolated incident, that this was systematic and went on for a very long time and calls into question ALL of Brady's success on the filed. _
the habitual offender part cannot be understated. must have been nice to have the exact defensive calls sent right to your headset while you are still learning the game. makes for a smooth transition to the NFL. Did the opposing QB's have that? no, their headsets would get mysteriously scrambled during big moments, with no sideline communication at all. He's been on the better side of illegal advantages for his entire career. everyone forgets about the illegal footballs in 2004 against the Jets as well. well broken in, deflated practice balls they snuck on the field in lieu of game balls. This isn't even his first football offense. he's been tampering with game balls his entire career as well.
I don't know, he is taking the ARod approach and that isn't a good idea. you know he lost a title game w/ KC, right? he got a little help from a top defense, a great OL, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jay Novacek, etc... I love Aikman and think he is underrated but Brady never had talent like that. yes they were 1-15 in 1989 and made the Walker trade during that season which began the turnaround. NE was getting worse every year post Parcells, in 200 they were down to 5-11 then started out 0-2 in 2001 before Brady stepped in and rescued the franchise and BB. The Giants and Washington were mostly bad during the Aikman era. it was more SF and GB as rivals.
so BB started this week 3 of the 2001 season? he just thought of it one night early in 2001 after Bledsoe went down. Interesting, he is a genius!
In my opinion Brady's days are numbered with the Patriots. Kraft even alluded to this the week of the Super Bowl when he said something to the extent that Brady accepting a lower salary (and then waiving guarantees): if he hadn't agreed NEP might have had to go in a different direction. Well BB was not loyal to Bledsoe years ago when he had a younger and better and cheaper Qb available. This is going to happen to Brady, too. As it has to all NEP star players. This is truly what the Patriots Way is all about. Getting rid of players early so you don't have to pay them market rates. And replacing them with a cheaper commodity. If Garoppolo does start (I have my doubts about that-I think they'll sign a veteran) but if he does and is the "new" Tom Brady believe me, they'll get rid of Brady in a minute. And distance themselves from all this embarrassment. So you can't believe Kraft when he says he's totally supporting Brady. I don't buy it. It's not the Patriot's Way.
So Aikman should be penalized because Jimmy Johnson was smarter than BB and better at getting talent than him?
the bolded is a outright fabrication. a simple google search should provide you tons of quotes from football people condemning Brady's actions.
he didn't have Dallas on top as long and he had more talent to work with so I wouldn't put him that close to Brady.
Brady played with perhaps the most talented WR ever to play in Moss. Now he's playing with perhaps the most talented TE ever to play in Gronkowski. He's always had a great OL, oh and he cheated. not the best ever. That's just my opinion though- I won't start a thread hours after he has a bad game "Tom Brady: Not the Greatest QB Ever" and then cry when people give me shit.. because I am not a drama queen.
he had ONE healthy season w/ Moss in top form. Gronk is rarely healthy. He's had good OLs, he never had the mid 90s Cowboys. consistently he has elevated mediocre talent on O to great heights.
Well Johnson was run out of town by an idiot owner, the Pats have the idiot loudmouthed owner but he doesn't quite have the ego to think he can do it better than the coach or who knows how many titles the Cowboys win? Aikman unlike Brady has also had to deal with serious head injuries, again not his fault
Brady IS the Patriots, he is why they created this dynasty, he is why they win 12+ games every year and compete for SBs. Let Kraft move on and se how easy it is w/o Brady.
