While sanctimoniously chirping "I don't boo" in the same breath. Indeed, what true Jet fan mocks a New York Jet SB-winning QB? "I just don't get it Joe..." "Well Babe, I dunno what to say except the guy's obviously a faux Jet fan as well 'n an attention ho' troll to boot.." And here's all you need to know about Amani Toomer: Amani Toomer thinks Tim Tebow will win starting QB job with NY Jets, says Mark Sanchez ‘is not a great quarterback’ Damien Woody chimes in with support for embattled Jets QB BY Manish Mehta , Ebenezer Samuel NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Published: Monday, April 2, 2012, 11:55 AM Updated: Monday, April 2, 2012, 9:45 PM
where am I mocking? he's the hero of the board, everyone loves him but when he backs Brady you ignore it. so we have to agree w/ everything Toomer says in order for him to be taken seriously? what about Marino, Montana and the others I posted?
YOU are the one accusing me of something. The burden of proof is on you. Prove it or apologize for a personal attack.
Less than 48 hours after the NFL report was released, I feel like I am going through a different stage of response. Initially, and as best I could being a Jet fan who hates the Pats and their shitty obnoxious fans who somehow think rooting for a cheater is okay as long as they win, I was focused on what should happen. We can argue about relative severity all day, but that article from the West Coast makes a valid point - the reputation of the Pats is irreparably damaged. I also feel less strongly that the Brady suspension was not long enough since the timing is his first game back will be before the Colts fans. Heh. There's a beauty to that. But... what does all this say about the game? Why do Pats fans think the "everybody else is doing something similar" argument is going to make us feel good about being fans of the NFL? How does the Pats having problems really make it better to be a Jet fan? And maybe the 800 lb. gorilla in the room - how long were the Pats cheating before they got caught, and given their history of cheating, what else might they have been doing for which they did not get caught? This is the thing about how Brady's numbers improved after the Pats argued for the ability to "handle" game balls in away games as well as home games, about their running backs fumbling the ball less. About the Pats doing a variety of htings to get an edge on the rest of the league, in underhanded fashion. This is the thing - concerns about integrity of the game, the way cheaters are dealt with, will have real consequences in how fans feel about the game. For myself I may be pleased that the Pats have been slammed. But do I really feel good about the integrity of the game right now? No. And if I question the integrity of the game, then why be a fan?
I remember that and I think it was one of the reasons I first understood that Toomer was a know nothing assface trying to make a name for himself. If folks want to use him as proof of something, have at it hahahaaa. _
maybe nothing here but ... In the 5 seasons from 2001-2005 (eliminating his rookie season) Brady had 1 season with over 4000 yards passing and 0 seasons with 30+ TD's. He also averaged 9.4 fumbles per season during that span. In 2006 Brady and Manning petitioned the league to allow for road teams to supply their own footballs. The league made the change in effective for the 2006 season. In the 8 seasons from 2006-2014 (Eliminating 2008 injury season 1 game) brady had 6 seasons with over 4000 yards passing and 5 seasons with 30+ TD's. He also averaged 6 fumbles per season during that span. There are many variables to consider here but this is interesting. One obvious major variable is the experience factor. I would be most interested in looking specifically at his road game performances since 2006. If there is anything to this, simply based on overall stats, it appears the deflating may not have started until a year later - 2007, after spygate.
His interceptions also decreased from 13.2 per year for 2001-2005 seasons down to 9.625 per year for 2006-2014 seasons.
getting experience and better offensive players around him I am sure never helped decrease INTs and increase TDs. didn't he win 3 SBs before all of this though?
Many Ex players are saying the fumble records are an interesting parallel to the rule change. Can't prove it, but look at what the rule change provided to the teams....an avenue to introduce deception and trickery.
Was cheating for the first 3 just like the last one. Getting experience and offensive players could have explained it except when you are caught cheating you lose that as an explanation. The cheating always is the first explanation. Been doing it his whole career in one aspect or the other.
Here's another oh,, by the way....... yep why would Tom lobby for rule change? because he probably got called in on a private call with NFL telling him to stop http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...he-witnessed-patriots-use-doctored-footballs/
Exactly. Pats fans and their defenders not only minimize the deflation in terms of the out come of the Colts game being unaffected. They also implicitly assume, for their own agenda-driven purposes, that the Pats "only" cheated in that game, and have "only" cheated by deflating footballs in that game. We are not required to share in those assumptions. Team has a proven history of cheating - see Spygate. They are later shown to have cheated again, in a single game. This is what is called in the law pattern and practice evidence. Are we to assume that those cases are all that they did? Meanwhile the Pats as a team do not seem to have gotten it. This is why ironically the lesser penalties the NFL game them than what i would have also has undermined efforts to send them the message they needed to hear. And WE needed to hear as fans who want the game's integrity restored. I am afraid as of today I can't conclude it has been.
But he had SpyGate (and the Tuck Rule, but that wasn't cheating just luck) to help him with those. It wasn't until he wasn't allowed to get that edge through SpyGate until he lobbied to get the balls. It's not beyond all reason to think he's been deflating the balls since. It IS beyond all reason to assert that is the sole reason he has had a HOF career and won this most recent SB...but it could have played enough of a factor in tight games that if they go the other way maybe they don't get through to the next round or get that bye week. Although, let's be honest, they almost certainly would have won the AFCE playing with bricks.
