http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/17/lance-armstrong-interview-doping-oprah_n_2500456.html The closest Armstrong came to contrition was when Winfrey asked him about his apologies in recent days, notably to former teammate Frankie Andreu, who struggled to find work in cycling after Armstrong dropped him from the USPS team, as well as his wife, Betsy. Armstrong said she was jealous of his success, and invented stories about his doping as part of a long-running vendetta. ...... "I'm a flawed character," he said. Did it feel wrong? "No," Armstrong replied. "Scary." "Did you feel bad about it?" Winfrey pressed him. "No," he said. "Even scarier." "Did you feel in any way that you were cheating?" "No," Armstrong paused. "Scariest." "I went and looked up the definition of cheat," he added a moment later. "And the definition is to gain an advantage on a rival or foe. I didn't view it that way. I viewed it as a level playing field."
so we compare slightly deflating footballs to a guy who took performance enhancing drugs his entire career to make him a great cyclist. Makes sense.
Who in the media is jealous? They placed Brady up on a pedestal and now they are tearing him down because he's a cheater, thats reality. He was the golden boy, some unknown 6th round pick to cheated but he cheated. The media has a right to expose him for the fraud he is regardless of what you think. You keep saying it's not a big deal, plenty of guys who played the game at the highest level seem to think it is, Damian Woody and Mark Brunnell for starters. You didn't play QB in the NFL so you opinion on whether it's a big deal or not is the same as mine as I also didn't play QB in the NFL but UI played plenty of youth and high school football to understand the advantage you have with under inflated footballs.
Braylon Edwards can go fuck himself...Who cares about that idiot? "No one wanted him suspended for it (besides me)" You always like the thrill of the whole world vs nyjunc, dont you? I wouldn't want a championship the way NE has won it. I would want the way every other team has won it.
you do know the media likes controversy, right? the lying is a big deal, the act itself is not. I played football for a long time and I was a QB, I liked a certain type of ball that we used, other QBs liked different ones when they were in- same thing in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers likes it overinflated, Brady under. It's not a big deal.
Actually I do like that thrill. I like not being a sheep and following others, I like coming up w/ original thoughts. You would kill for any of NEs 4 championships as would any Jet fans. I didn't compare the two, just pointing out how we are all outraged over "cheating" and we want to "win the right way" but when something happens to us we excuse it. If Brady was a Jet and had the same success here the entire board would be backing him, NE fans would be bashing him.
Mike Lupica who is a MASSIVE Giants fan and has NOTHING to be jealous of the Patriots (actually, he pities them) was just ripping Brady and his idiot agent to shreds. _
yep, sportswriters(especially Lupica) HATE controversy. They always do their best to make sure it goes away as quickly as possible.
its not a big deal how a QB likes the ball. It becomes a big deal when a QB circumvents the rules after the pregame inspection process. Fuck why is this so hard to understand?????? Aaron Rodgers saying he likes an overinflated ball is a preference thing, sure. But he's not paying off ball boys to fill it up with air in the pisser in the brief moments after the referees inspect it for the day's game and before it makes its way onto the field. Rodgers plays by the rules. He brings the balls to the field and plays with the ones that the referees approve of. Brady doesn't
Btw, I work in CT and I have a bunch of Pats fan friends--I go to a game or 2 every year up at Gillette with about a dozen Pats STHs, we sit in one of Kraft's sons boxes for inclement weather games --these are big time Pats fans--and even they are backing off their earlier defense of Brady. 2 of them are quite disgusted that this is happening again and tainting their SB championship. But these are all educated guys so they have a bit of rationality to them and aren't like the typical delusional Masshole fan. _
you don't know what Rodgers is doing, have you seen what Eli has done to his footballs? let's not be naïve here. Brady got caught and lied and deserves punishment but the issue itself is really not a big one. It's been made into a big one b/c he handled it like ARod would and b/c NE has been caught bending rules before.
Look I get it, back when I was Heisman Trophy finalist in college back in my glory days I liked throwing a ball a certain way too. The grip is important to my spiral. The issue is Brady leading the efforts to doctor the footballs in a league that has a clear rule which Brady was caught for. Rodgers may have overinflated and others have their own particular way of throwing the ball...But Brady has been doctoring for a long time and he has been doing it for years and was doing it at times so he wouldnt get caught.
The only reason to like a ball underinflated is because it is easier to throw, catch and hold onto. Everyone knows this. That's why there is a rule and why every QB (other than Brady) leaves the balls alone once they are weighed in. If someone can't understand why taking the referee-weighed balls into a bathroom to deflate them isn't an issue, then they have either not watched football or played it. Anyting you do to a ball pre-weigh in is LEGAL. Letting air out after weigh-in is illegal and cheating to get a competitive illegal advantage. No other reason to do it. _
My business partner here is a huge Pats fan...He has a huge bust of Brady here in the office. He admitted Brady cheated and messed up but his beef was more with the amount of games he got. He should have gotten 2 games he said instead of 4. He is upset about the loss of picks though.
EVERYTHING done to prep a ball pre-weigh in is LEGAL and within the rules. What Eli does to his footballs is LEGAL. He's shown us videos of it. Once the balls are weighed in, the prep stops. Letting air out after weigh-in is illegal and cheating. _
If Rodgers and Eli Manning got caught doing the same cheating I would bash them as well. But they haven't. So I am going to work under the assumption that they don't cheat by paying off ball boys for now
