No problem with this, what should he say Hank is better, he has confidence in his goalie

Caps much improved, alot of the credit goes to Holtby's maturation and Barry Trotz, who has done a great job

When he plays like that he's like a Sherman tank on the ice, he wins every battle with his speed and strength

the rangers turned it off once they went up 4-1,. released on their forechecks real eaerly, and it opened up the ice for the caps,
not good to do in this unforgiving league

I don't have anything to argue with what Ovechkin said...He knows they have to win, just like we know we have to win. This guarantee is not going to chase momentum or swing something around. They may need a edge so they will use it.

The Rangers have shown they are capable of winning down and are able to fix their early problems with Caps defense and Holtby. Now we need to just stop the side angles and make it hell for the Caps to get shots off. We need to dictate the game on offense.

I also think winning 4-1 would have made me so much better, but I don't want a Rangers team coming back completely confident that they have recovered and are ready to win the series. The Caps coming back to make it a game gives this team more to learn from, we need to manage our shifts and get things corrected to advance.

Controlling guys like Ward, Chimera, Kuznetsov are key. I honestly think the extra day of rest will help the Rangers a bit. Now they have to use MSG and their game to push them forward.

Solid road win when we needed it, up 4-1, sit on lead on road, at home Game 7 pedal to the metal, attack, attack, attack, bring the play to the Caps

Matter of time? In first 298:19 of series, #NYR = 5 goals. In last 71:18 of series, #NYR = 6 goals. WAS strategy mentally/physically taxing

Im not buying that Trotz is doing a great job. I think he fucked the caps...he burnt out Holtby by playing him 300 games this year, he lost game 5 by playing like a pussy, he hasn't gotten Backstrom going for one second, Ovi might have been burned out early in this series by double shifting him in the first two games which is fucking retarded. I don't see the brilliance. He has played this series just like Tortorella would have played it and I don't recall anyone ever calling him a genius. I'd say Totz has done a fair job but that's about it.

TDK, you asked about Holtby last night...Ill tell you the difference...he wasn't in the great position squaring up to every shot like he had been doing. Perhaps his legs a re bit spent, that's what leads to not being able to get into great position

I'm with you, I was shaking...Those 15 minutes felt like 2 hours. Clock was not moving and we never had the puck.

It's as if they stopped playing...You cannot do that with a desperate team...But there was Lundqvist to help

J, I don't think you are being fair to Trotz. He had to play Holtby, they were a shoe in for a loss every time he sat, the caps went on a tear the last quarter of the season and went from a team outside of the wildcard to second seed.

As far as Backstrom is concerned, what do you want from Trotz? He plays him with the best player on earth and he still can't make anything happen. The secret to shutting down Backstrom is to hit him hard and often, don't let him get comfy skating around.

He played great against the isles because they backed off and gave him time and space.

The rangers are not allowing him the same luxury.

“We’re going to come back and win the series,” he said. “We’re going to play our game, and we’re going to come back and we’re going to play Montreal or Tampa.”

Ovechkin said. “You can see, they don’t want to play that game. We knew that. Obviously as soon as we put the puck deep, hit their D, they afraid, because we big, we strong and you can see how we score goals.

    --

I don't have a problem much with the first quote him calling for a win, but him saying 'we are afraid' annoys me.
