If the jets end up starting Willie Colon and Q. Coples, expect another losing year. Coples stinks at LB and I really hoped they either move him back to the D-line where he belongs or move him during the draft. Willie "false start" Colon should have never been brought back, even with the lack of talent on the OL.
Doubt Colon is on opening roster. Guard, WR will be absolutely ferocious battles during camp. We've probably got like 5 guards battling for one spot opposite Carpenter and 8 WRs including Smith,evans, Owusu and Pozier. I guess we are fine with our offensive tackle situation? But surprised we haven't addressed it this offseason Then of course the perpetual QB battle.

Rumph's weight distribution has improved over his years at Kentucky, and it has showed in his ability to move laterally. He can surprise opponents with his quickness and has an effective over-arm swim move to slip into the backfield”. Determined to get a shot in 2015 he camped outside the Falcons HQ seeking a second chance before heading here but is older, as he had academic struggles that held him back. Lavelle Westbrooks SS. NFLN gave him a draftable grade in 2014 stating “Adequate-sized, shuffle-and-bail corner who shed weight to convert from safety to cornerback. Has length and moldable tools, but will require patience.” Drafted by the Bengals in Rd 7 he was waived injured and placed on IR and according to Bengal fans “with another year of development, Westbrooks will have a good shot to make the 53-man roster in 2015, assuming Terence Newman isn't brought back”.

we have literally no competition at T. my biggest fear heading into this season. Breno sucks, and shouldn't be a starter. the only backup is Ijalena, and he is no swing T, meaning Brick is the only LT on the roster. QB, OT, and TE are really lacking in talent. G is a little deeper, but still not very talented. We had a great offseason, but this offense will still be poor.
I think the foot issues for Hillard explain why we brought back Ijalana. Hillard collected his signing bonus and dipped.
The offensive line, I think you can argue is the biggest issue right now outside of QB. Specifically the G positions and the RT position. We are going up against that defensive line in BUF and Suh in Miami. If we have a bunch of bench players starting at those positions, we are going to get dominated at the LOS.
I'm not that concerned. There's alot of money invested in that line: Mangold & Ferguson are two of the most expensive players on the entire roster. Carpenter & Giacomini weren't cheap acquisitions either. Time for these guys to take their play up a level, earn their keep. Depth is a concern but damn theres a lot of young players that it would help if they stepped up too, otherwise we'll look at cap/roster casualties
Many have made the argument we should have gone OT in rd 2. It would still have been a crapshoot but now its clear that it would have filled a priority need.
More news. And I think Schereff might have been our plan at 6 and then we felt Smith was better than all O-Line guys in the 2nd.
I think White may have been the plan in rd 1 and MM was right to choose williams. But then because he had to take a WR in either the 1st or 2nd due to pressure from Woody (my theory), he committed to a WR in the 2nd and chose the highest on our board. If he had taken White in the 1st, he would have had more options in the 2nd including LB and OT. All conjecture of course.
Yep could've been that too. Obviously didn't expect Williams to be there. We'll never know for sure but no doubt he had many different options in round 1/2 to target OL/OLB if he wanted.
i actually feel pretty good about Henderson and Lattimore backing up Harris and Davis. Tackle might be the least well addressed position we have unless Sean Hooey, the first dude Mac brought in, kicks ass inexplicably.
I don't agree with targeting OL round one, its not MacCagnan draft strategy, everything he told the media, he did, he stated that he looks for solid OL starters in the later rounds. Also, in the OP, Smith is more of an outside WR, not a slot. That's nitpicking though.
