haha, Roy is something like 28-2 against State.

Carolina has been through a lot in recent years and they earned both of their last 2 Nat'l titles. I'd rather win the right way than the way duke has won. Hopefully we'll see another championship in less than a year.

Carolina just added one of the best shooters in this HS class. 3pt shooting has been a weakness in recent years, it should be a strength this year w/ a healthy Paige, the emergence of Jackson, Berry and Britt and now the addition of a top freshman shooter(Kenny Williams). Looking forward to a great season and hopefully not only do they win another Nat'l title but the NCAA nonsense can be put behind them as well.

I think it might be 28-3 but no matter, you're only as good as your last game.

"Earned?" Put Duke in UNC's 2005 shoes and tell me you'd still put the "earned" tag on thst title.

Great, load up on the recruits. But all the more reason that excuses (the refs, whatever) should not be used should they spit the bit in 2015-16. And Paige's outside 'J' was money-in-the-bank great down the stretch this past year so I'm not sure how much water the 'healthy Paige' contention holds.

Carolina beat some really good teams then beat a 1 loss team for the championship- they didn't need another team to do their dirty work for them while they had a creampuff road to the title game and they didn't need the last 10 mins plus of bad call after bad call going their way to steal the title game.

a healthy Paige helps Carolina win more games in reg season and get a top seed so they don't have to play a Wisconsin in the Sweet 16. Marcus down the stretch was great and others stepped up which is why late in the year they were one of best teams in the Country.

I wasn't referring to the good teams that UNC in fact did beat, I was instead referring to the Villanova game and suggesting that had you been in "Duke's shoes" that you would've been lambasting UNC's 2005 championship as being handed to them and not "earned."

      • Fifth-seeded Villanova stuck with UNC despite falling behind 64-54 with 3:45 left in the game. The Wildcats stormed back to cut the lead to 66-63. With eleven seconds left Allan Ray drove the lane, received contact as he made a basket, but was called for a travel on the play, despite the fact that replays verified what many saw immediately, that he had, in fact, not traveled. On the ensuing possession, Villanova immediately fouled. Rashad McCants then made a free throw to seal the North Carolina victory.

the man travelled and while it could have been a no call that was one call not call after call after call that were clearly incorrect and once again the ONLY reason that game was close was b/c they fouled out Raymond Felton.

replay verified he took 3 steps and shuffled his feet before he even started to dribble. do they let stuff like that go? most of the time but it was a travel.

So if you were a Duke alum and a diehard Blue Devil fan your assessment would've been the same? I think it's reasonable to think not given the number of times you yourself have played "the refs!" card.

One thing we call all agree on: poor #5 seed "David" (Villanova) got screwed against #1 seed "Goliath" (North Carolina) a la Seton Hall-Michigan, Billy "ACC shill" Packer's bias notwithstanding. :D

no we cannot agree on that. 'Nova did not get screwed, they were helped more than hurt.

1 bad call is one thing, the creampuff bracket then what happened after Wisconsin went up 9 is another including going to the monitor and looking at a ball clearly off duke then giving it back to them- that happened at least 3 times but the other times they didn't go to monitor.

duke won, it doesn't matter how much I whine about it but I hate the way they win. I hate K working officials during TOs then every call going his way after it. they had a really talented team that could have won on their own.

I agree with everything you said about the Duke - Wisconsin game especially Krzyzewski working the refs down 9 during that TO. And I'm also glad we agree that Villanova got royally screwed against North Carolina.

You're a Duke fan: you know you'd have gone bat shit crazy at the end of that 'Nova-UNC '05 game.

I am sure duke fans did go crazy and it was a controversial call. People forget that only could have tied the game if they did call a foul and they forget how Felton was fouled out. Officiating did not dictate the winner in that game, it did in the Nat'l championship this season.

think before you write is excellent advice, you should be telling that to yourself.

All I did was ask Joe a very clear, concise question.

Hi, sorry for the tardy response. I've been in Paris the last 8 days and have had no exposure to any sports (US-wise) outside of stumbling onto broadcasts of soccer games, snooker matches, and stupid bicycle race-after-stupid-bicycle-race while, e.g. getting dressed, etc. Yanks? Forget it. So TGG has pretty much been my bloodline to the US. The missus and I come here every year for the last 10 years and outside of last year (when they moved the NFL draft back a week), I've always made a point of waking up in the middle of the night to check out the draft on the laptop (the missus is convinced that I'm daft for doing so). And, I'm only mentioning this in order to help explain why I had to recruit a 'source' in short order regarding that 2005 UNC-Villanova game: *gulp* Wikipedia (which fwiw also made mention of "two phantom fouls" on Felton). That said, I saw the game……refs should've let 'em play: and I'll always maintain that 'Nova got screwed just like Seton Hall did vs. Michigan.

Lastly, came across Sky Sport's "The Zone" which is the sport of cricket's version of "Baseball Tonight." Imagine guys like Curt Shilling explaing pitching (bowling), Harold Reynolds about defensive positioning, and John Kruk on the finer points of hitting (batting) -- pretty cool show.

SH-Michigan was a title deciding call, even if they call the foul on UNC Ray has a CHANCE to tie it and again I believe the game was only close b/c of ticky tack fouls called on Felton to foul him out.

Junc you are so silly. Almost stomping your feet like an 8 year old, like, Childish. You are so biased about all these excuses how something was given to one and the other had to earn it! What a joke!
UNC wishes to be like Duke!!!! But they are not. You gonna cry Junc?

every non duke fan saw it so you can pretend all you want but that title was handed to you.

UNC does not wish to be like duke, they play and win the right way.

it was a bad call but give Robinson credit for being able to knock them down under that pressure.
