It may be able to be proven but it is logical. we had a QB that clearly was not ready to play in this league and we still managed to win 8 games w/ him. w/ mediocre QB play chances are we have a chance to win another game or two.

They aren't really objective, it's very difficult to accurately grade an OL.

That's the first step. Admitting that Geno--irrespective of anyone else--sucked.

You'll come around some day as the excuses roll off.

    It'll take some time.

IF everything remained the same...which, of course, we couldn't expect.

It was unprovable when you said it before. nothing has changed.

But maybe you should say it again...because pure speculation dressed up as fact never gets old.

When the team has weapons and can block, there won't be any legitimate excuses. But that wasn't last year or the year before.

Yup--it had nothing to do with Geno. He was the LEAST of our problems, not the WORST.

I want Geno to succeed, I don't like ever giving up on players so I want him to win the job and I think he will. I hope now w/ a better OL and the best weapons we probably have had since the 80s to throw to that he will play like a competent NFL QB.

    Thanks.

    That's my expectation...that he play like he's a professional.

No missed meetings, read his progressions correctly, be on-time, cut down on silly mistakes.

The rest will work itself out.

If he were the worst, he'd have been shown the door and the team's leadership would have done more to address the position than Ryan "Broken Leg" Fitzpatrick and a 4th-round project.

He's on a cheap contract, there were very few better options out there and the fuck up that brought him here was fired so the new staff needed a breathing period to figure everything out.

They made attempts at a few QBs so at least they tried. Fitz was the best option.

And Fitz knows the offense and was very successful in it.

Yeah I think Fitzy is under center week 1 2015 and Petty is under center week 1 2016.

Progression just makes sense. Fitz and Gaily work well together and may surprise us all. Petty a work in progress and throwing bombs to DSmith by 2016. Lots of class receivers to throw to.

The outlook for this team down the road is looking really good thanks to the new brain trust who actually are putting some sound plans in place. The whole concept sounds totally unfamiliar. What a diference a year makes.

It's like we were abducted as children and forced to live in a closet for years.

I've seen various write ups speculating the jets wr group as the best wr group in the nfl

My only point w that is to say we don't have talent is quite the stretch

You keep saying that, but Eric Decker played in 15 games. He was injured in one other game even though he suited up so we'll act like it's 14. Still, he played the vast majority of the season with a healthy Eric Decker.

QB ratings can be very deceiving over a career span - Doug Williams's rating was under 70 lifetime - yet he won a super bowl for the Redskins in 1987 - yes that year he had a 94 QB rating - but he only started 2 games for them that year.

All Geno has to do is reverse his TD/INT ratio , and like magic, he can become a very decent QB...that's all the matters to a team like the Jets who can and will keep the games close against any team in the league because of their D.

Wait a minute. Let me under stand this logic:

You cite Geno Smith as being one if the worse QB's in the league but disregard that argument while dissing the wide reciever because of the lack of yardage made? Can't have it both ways. This sounds like the chicken/egg argument , who to blame first.
