Can't complain about Williams. I complained about Richardson two years ago and he won roy. The possibility of having Richardson, Wilkerson and Williams at the same time sounds awesome. WR in second was great move, though I wanted DGB! At least smith is a deep threat.
For me, the draft grade hinges on two things. One being that we got the best player in the draft at the 6 spot, and the other is getting a qb that's worth developing in the 4th. Those two things turn this from a crapshoot of a draft, to a damn good one. Also, I love the mauldin pick. I think that kid is gonna surprise a lot of people. Imagine, back in 1981, the NY Giants thinking, hey, this Lawrence Taylor guy looks pretty good, but we already have a boatload of pro bowl linebackers. We need some playmakers on offense. David Verser, he's our guy. There's a reason you take the best guy.
Would have picked OT (Andrus Peat) in first round and WR (Dorial Green-Beckham) in second round. Thus C- GRADE
Round 1: Leonard Williams DE-USC A Round 2: Devin Smith WR-Ohio State A+ Round 3: Lorenzo Mauldin- OLB-Louisville A Round 4: Bryce Petty- QB -Baylor A Round 5: Brandon Marshall WR- Chicago Bears A++ Round 5: Jarvis Harrison OG- Texas A&M B Round 7: Deon Simon NT- Northwestern State ? Round 7: Zac Stacy- RB- St. Louis Rams A+
The only pick where I would have preferred a different player at the same position was DGB over Smith. Don't dislike the Smith pick, just would have preferred the bigger more physical freak in DGB. But having that speed guy is great. I just wish he had some return ability. Now that I think of it, that's probably the most glaring hole on the team--the return game. _
My guess is that it is competition for Harrison (Snacks) and Barnes and possibly leverage in case Harrison wants more money next year than the Jets are willing to pay, and insurance in case Harrison isn't back next year. They must have their doubts about Barnes. I don't know anything about the 7th rounder except he's supposed to be very strong. He may also be a better pass rusher or show more potential in that regard than Snacks, but that's a pure guess.
I agree, it's kind of weird because as Jet fans we are used to having that dynamic kick returner - like Brad Smith, Justin Miller, Leon Washington. Hasn't been the same since Westoff left. My man Brad Smith returning a kickoff for a TD against Pittsburgh, awesome times
Agree with this. Smith will compliment Decker/Marshall well, but he doesnt feel like a future number 1. DGB did.
I know there aren't as many KO returns, but when Leon was here it seemed like we were always starting out at our 40 yard line. _
So because we didnt take a tackle in the top 10 and the biggest boom or bust player that hasnt even played in a year its a C draft?
People are just repeating this silly rhetoric because he has a cool name...let him be the Titans problem hes another Kenny Britt
