I have my doubts the 2nd QB in the draft should start from day one, there is zero doubt in my mind that any of the other QB's taken in the draft should sit for at least 1 year if not more. This was one of the worst years for QB drafts since 1998, if not 1996.

The bottom line on Petty: it was a good draft pick. He is smart, has a great arm and has a chance to be good. He doesn't have to have all of the intangibles to be a successful Qb. All of these guys are flawed. I'd rather take a prospect like him in the 4th round than trade up in the first and give up an entire draft etc. for another guy who is also a prospect and unproven.

Pretty sure 2013 was the worst... Geno in the 2nd as the first QB is pretty bad

I did not like this pick. We could have addressed other areas. Trading for Stacey later somewhat made up for it but I'm not sure Petty here was a good choice. He is nowhere near NFL ready and I just don't think a guy from the Baylor offense will ever become anything at this level. I know we have questions at QB, not sure this was the best way to address it

How do you figure that? Sanchez isn't much better than Geno when it comes to turning the ball over and making bonehead plays. I'd say the records would be about the same, maybe even a little worse with Sanchez at QB. At least Geno can score some TDs and sustain drives with his legs. All Sanchez can do is run up the backside of his OL.

If u don't think petty will be good because of the offense he came from what do you expect from mariota? Did u want him?

Not like this thread is about Bryce Petty anymore, but Petty tweeted out that he will wear number 9, for those who are interested.

Excellent, now everyone can reuse their John Hall shirts. We've all got one, right?

From the clips I've seen, this kid Petty looks pretty good.

I like the way he stands tall in the pocket. If he can make the leap to the pro level, he could be something.

    In case you forgot-

the thing that stood out to me watching the highlights was his footwork in the pocket. he's always keeping them moving almost like Peyton Manning does. not comparing him to manning at all, just like the pocket footwork.

The hell are you talking about. We were talking about Clevelands trade up proposal and us beating them to it for the player we wanted.

Why don't you go lock down your unsupportable drivel by making an Internet bet or better yet guaranteeing something you have no control over.

Good news for you is we have another Jet QB to hate.

His problem is after the first read is taken away that footwork goes to shit but he has the foundation to build on

Mannion was taken in the 3rd round right? He wasnt worth that high of a pick I'll take petty in the 4th over Mannion in the 3rd

Who can ever predict anyone really, especially QB's, but the talent to draft round here sure seems like a great draft bargain for the Jets...and if he doesn't plan out (like a lot don't), they've lost a 4th round pick and minimum money as opposed to those first round busts...even Geno isn't a huge commitment/bust except for the time spent on him...If I were a GM and was searching for a QB (minus the Andrew Luck can't miss variety) i'd be drafting a qb in the 3rd/4th round every 2-3 years until something clicks...and Petty sure seems like he has the talent and dropped just because he hasn't "proven" he can run a pro-offense...which is different than saying he "can't" run a pro offense...4th round pick on the gamble to prove it one way or another seems very reasonable-good value...needless to say i'll be routing like crazy for him as Geno is not the answer
