Btw the Jets still have former Rams RB Daryl Richardson still on their roster. He had almost 500 yards gained his rookie year and then under 300 in 2013. Last year he was basically on the Jets PS.
This Stacy trade is a bit of a head scratcher. All of our backs excluding Powell have a similar skill set. We could have taken Antwan Goodley from Baylor with that pick and provided a converted receiver as an outlet. I think either him or Ridley makes team, but not both. I also wonder how this staff feels about Ivory with all these moves. It's quite puzzling.
We have no RBs signed beyond 2015. I think this is just a flier on a player signed for 2 years left on a rookie contract
The kid has some get up and go and seems like he'd fit the role of 3rd down back. Still though, I kind scratched my head when we picked him up due to the fact we had Johnson, Powell and Ivory. He would have matched up with Ivory and Powell considerably better than Johnson who still wanted the lion's share of touches. Now we have 3/4 guys with similar skill sets. Maybe they plan on using on using a split backfield with Ivory as the "FB"?
It's possible Stacy plays fullback. But it's not the point. The point a lot of folks are missing (not you specifically) is the value in the trade. Any time you can give a 7th round pick for a 3rd year rb w minimal wear who showed he can play at the NFL level it's a great grab regardless of other rb style on the roster. If he sticks then great. If he doesn't then no big deal. Look at him as a 7th round pick or a guy we invited to camp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like the trade, I'm just worried that the Jets now have 4 guys that want carries. We just gave Powell a decent little contract to be the 2 guy. I figure Stacy and Ridley are going to compete for the 3 spot and the other guy gets cut. Also get the feeling the plan is for Ivory to not be here in 2016.
I don't understand why you're worried bc we have 4 backs who are capable...this is a good thing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You know, for a guy who was trying to tell someone else they were arguing with themselves... How many times do people have to respond to you "the trade is fine, but..." before you realize there is no one arguing that the trade sucked? The issue is that he's redundant. And it's not even an issue persay, I think people just expected to walk away from the draft with an RB that either a.) could take over as the every down back in the near future or b.) could complement our current crop of RBs. Competition isn't a bad thing, it just would be an ever better thing if we had a more well-rounded group... guys not competing for the exact same position while one position goes unfilled.
Our backs being unhappy with their playing time, that's all. CJ0K and Vick giving half hearted efforts last season because of PT left a bad taste in my mouth.
that has nothing to do with anything i said... not sure what you getting at. Maccagnan traded that 5th pick for Marshall before free agency even started.. and we got Marshall and a 7th in return...and traded that 7th for Zac Stacey... that's all great GM'ing right there.
People really gonna sit here and bitch about that trade giving up a 7th rounder when Idzik and Rex cut 2 draft picks last off-season? Give me a break guys.
Look at the posts. I just don't see how anyone can argue that trade, everyone should be happy. Heck we didn't get Duke Johnson, but at least we found some more talent.
I'm looking at the posts and I'm seeing the exact same sentiment from everyone who has doubts, and that sentiment has nothing to do with disliking the trade. Bottom line: no one thinks the trade was bad. Plenty, including myself, are wondering why we went the Zac Stacy route IN GENERAL, regardless of what we gave up to get him. He's a redundant player not as good as the two players he's behind. He had a rookie year that was nowhere near as good as the numbers suggested (more than half his yards and TDs came over 4 games where he averaged 28 carries per game). We had a need for speed in the backfield... we passed on it. Instead, we brought in more of what we have, but not as good. It's just curious. That's all.
Lol I just went back and read the thread. Too funny. People whining about a 7th rounder for a professional NFL back. Smh. _
No reason to doubt about a fucking 7th round pick trade. Since you seem to have issues reading posts: just 2 to start off. Apparently, you have a guilty conscience, you thought my post was about you ... didn't you? No need for doubts, no need to complain. Stacy has some game to him - we have no RBs signed past next season other then Ivory and I believe Stacy. No reason to complain 1 freaking bit.
Not in the slightest. Calling the trade a head scratcher is not arguing against it. I know that's possible, because that's my exact opinion. For probably the 7th time now: the return on our 7th was fine. NO ONE IS DOUBTING THE COMPENSATION FOR STACY (sans one guy who hates everything about the Jets). Why we targeted Stacy while passing on seemingly better fits, that's head scratching.
