You're right, I was thinking it was 2. Anyway, I don't think they will trade him unless he is being unreasonable in his demands.
I would agree however if he thinks he deserves suh or watt money then he needs to step his game up to a whole nother level
yes, but did he ever provide a definition of what style of nose tackle? Bowles likes the flexibility of being able to move guys around the line and shift their positions, Snacks is pretty much a one trick pony.
Summed up perfectly. Not sure why this is so hard for some to grasp. I guess people get too caught up being fans of certain players.
It's not about being a fan of players...it's getting value we deserve. So we draft the likes of Kyle Wilson, Sanchez and Gholston with first round picks but the ones we get right like Wilkerson and in their prime, we are OK letting walk if they want too much $$ without compensation? That doesn't seem like how to run a team. If he wants $15mm, I agree he doesn't deserve it. But i don't want to just lose him either ... I want picks. And not for a compensatory pick in 2 years. I think a first rounder and a mid rounder is fair and maybe a player. I dont think unless he elevates his game further that he will get two first rounders. We make too many drafting mistakes to let our actual studs go without some form of compensation.
so how exactly do you suggest we go about it. if wilkerson asks for watt/suh money and holds out? do you give it to him? and if you do, then what do you do with richardson when he is due an extension? you dont get 50M every off season. thats why some were saying we needed to allocate some of that towards a mo extenstion, instead of using it all on FAs. i for one, would have love to have seen 5M of harris money go to wilkerson and then sign someone like mcclain
Well a nose tackle has to eat up space, that's the job of a good NT, so a definition isn't really necessary.
He will play in all our sub packages and will be used in our base D in certain situations. I'm not worried about him seeing the field at all.
If Wilkerson holds out, I think we will have to trade him for a future picks and/or players. We have talent at d line And yea I 100 percent agree about Harris. I thought it was a bad contract then and now depending on how Wilkerson plays out it could look even worse. Don't quote me on this but I think David Harris, Skrine our 3rd CB, Cromartie all make more than Willerson. He doesn't deserve Watt money but certainly has every right to feel slighted.
Mo and Sheldon are competing against each other for a big contract this season. Can't pay both. Let them decide it on the field.
whenever i see this thread i think "is this guy so damn lazy he can't spell the name Leonard Williams?"
I'm just scared that if we let go of Mo we'll anger Sheldon. Mo is his best friend on the team and partner in crime, I have a feeling that he isn't at voluntary camp because Mo isn't. The last thing I want is for us to trade Mo and then Sheldon leaves as a free agent in 2017.
In a traditional scheme yes, their job is to take up two blockers. You can do that by being really beefy and immobile, or by being really good and drawing double teams through athleticism. Something our newest member has done.
From La Canfora's column today. This is the first evidence I have seen that Wilkerson is playing hardball and the first time I felt he may be history here. "Providing they get Muhammed Wilkerson signed to a long-term extension. Drafting Williams in the first round won't change Wilkerson's financial expectations. Agent Chad Wiestling told me from their perspective, the Jets' drafting another D-lineman changes nothing. "
You can look at what the agent said in different ways. He could just be meaning that the Wilkerson's role on the team won't change.
