When did drafting a QB in the 4th round suddenly became a message other than we just drafted 4th round QB?
What's nice to know that now that the GMs job is done we have Todd Bowles to handle the charges going forward. Can you imagine big mouth Rex managing the troublemakers? The whole rookie class would end up in jail. This guy will be a good disciplinarian and help players hit potential. No more BS. I don't count on many wins in 2015 as I don't think Mac and Bowles would have signed with us without making it crystal clear to Woodrow we won't see a winning season till '16. But what a nice cornerstone. Not used to such an intelligent FO (and no one went to Dartmouth)
Geno is one of the worst QBs Ive seen play in an NFL game in 15 or so years of watching football...this being said, I would hope Petty could be better than him fairly quickly
One thing I loved about this draft is that they even were simulating the fourth round and traded up just in time to prevent Cleveland from grabbing him.
If Sanchez was on this team right now we'd be a guaranteed playoff team with a chance at winning the division.
Apparently these teams all work with/against each other. Jets are talking to Jax about Petty. Cleveland calls Jax and says "we'll offer you X for your pick because we want Petty". Jax call Jets and say "beat X and we'll trade back one spot, Cleveland wants Petty". Jets trade up one spot and get the QB they want and snatch him from Cleveland. Nice move. _
Or the Jax played the Jets in to giving up something for essentially nothing. Granted only a 7th round pick but no way the Browns were going to jump up for Petty, he's one of the most raw QB's in the draft and is purely a developmental QB, they already have one of those in Manzel. If the Browns had really been going to trade up they would have then drafted the ever so slightly better Brett Hundley. The Jets got snowed, albeit for only a small amount.
No, actually it was YOU who (needlessly) introduced "JC" into the thread with your "just like JC, with lots of witnesses" comment.
Not sure where you're coming from, I noticed you posted 43 times yesterday - my post count: 5. So what is your problem?
We'll never know one way or the other for sure, but if the Browns really wanted a QB I'm pretty sure they would have drafted one of the others in the 4th or 5th round. This was almost a historically bad draft class after the first 2. First draft in 9 years to have zero QB's go in the 2nd? Fewest number of QB's drafted since 1998, the Peyton Manning, Ryan Lief year. The ONLY year to have fewer QB's taken was 1996 when only 6 were drafted (there were 7 drafted this year). Speaking of 1996, that is the only year I'm aware of that 0 QB's went in the first QB didn't come off the board till pick 42, that's 12 picks in to the 2nd round (there were only 30 teams then). This was a very bad year to draft a QB in if it wasn't in the first.
