Okay. First draft of Maccagnan is over. Some good calls and some not so good calls. How do you think he did as a first year GM? Let's discuss.
He did what he said he would in the first, then filled needs in the rest of the draft. Got a proven veteran for a seventh rd pick, which maybe would have put my vote at better than expected, but I can't get that excited over Stacy, so I said as expected. But not dissapointing in any way, do not get me wrong. I expected a lot, and I got it.
Taking Leonard Willams even though we have a good DL was smart. It gives him great value and if loaded at that position the ability to make a trade at a weakness. Or add more picks for a later date. The rest was ok, too early to tell. The guy is not incompetent.
If I had to compare this draft to T-Bomb, hell yeah this was spectacular draft at a face value. Idzik - he did land Sheldon Richardson, but was a complete WTF after that. He even cut half the draftee by the end of the incoming summer last year. So in that regard, Macc again wins by a landslide.
My preliminary answer is worse than expected. I had really high hopes for this draft and at least initially, it didn't turn out nearly as well as I had hoped. In two years it could look dramatically better. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but am not as optimistic or hopeful as I was.
It's much too early to tell. He did super with the 1st & 2nd pick. They're still picking up undrafted players and that also has to factor in to what the result will be. We will all have a better idea after the 2nd week of camp. I'm tired of all the posts that are pissed because some other team drafted your fav, no matter if it was before or after our pick. None of us have the ability to make any selections...that is the job of the new staff. Quit bitching.
Yeah. Lot of transactions yet to be made. We need to get a couple of Offensive Tackles's at some point. UFA's, releases, camp cuts, etc.
I cant wait to look back and laugh years from now on the threads going ballistic over the Williams pick
I'd have to give it a good grade considering most of the needs we had going in were addressed. Would have loved a better O-line prospect but there's still cuts coming down the road
impossible to tell before anyone has played a snap. but i liked all our picks. he didint blow #6, so thats a plus
